Altan's story

Autrefois guerrier aux prouesses quasi légendaires au sein de son peuple, Altan a connu une vie d’aventure et de débauche. Comme beaucoup d’autres barbares, il servait de mercenaire et affrontait des guerriers rivaux pour la gloire et la vantardise. Même en vieillissant, la nature orgueilleuse d’Altan ne s’est pas affaiblie.

Même si ses forces commençaient à décliner, il avait toujours envie de la même renommée et de l’exaltation de la bataille. Lorsqu’il fut accusé d’être devenu vieux et faible, il ne se contenta pas de donner une bonne correction aux coupables, mais il se promit d’affronter seul le redoutable dragon Hellrazor. Sans un mot, il rassembla son armée et partit pour la montagne de la Bête.

On ne sait pas ce qui s’est passé dans l’antre du dragon, car Altan refuse d’en parler. Certains disent que l’Arbitre elle-même est intervenue et l’a sauvé d’une mort certaine. Quoi qu’il en soit, il est clair qu’Altan ne l’a pas emporté, mais il n’a pas péri non plus. Lorsqu’il émergea, le vieux guerrier barbare apparut fusionné avec la flamme du dragon qui brûlera en lui à jamais. Il jura fidélité à l’Arbitre et à son combat contre l’Ombre grandissante et servit depuis lors les guerriers qu’elle avait choisis.
