History of Basileus Roanas
It is no secret that true legends often rise like a beacon of hope when times are darkest. And so it was today. When the orcs invaded the kingdom of Aravia, scattered its army, and burned many of its fortresses, it was the leader of the High Elves, Basileus Roanas, who rose up to rally his people against the savages who sought to destroy everything they held dear.
An unparalleled marksman, he led the elven armies in a daring counteroffensive that broke the back of the horde and drove the invaders back to the borders of the kingdom. During this campaign, Roanas was credited with the deaths of some twenty orc warlords, for his arrows never missed their mark.
Whether it was a black heart, a flaw in armor, or the exposed throat of an imposing Ogryn, his arrows never missed their target. Roanas' army was ready to face the newly assembled Orc forces under Grohak the Bloodthirsty in a battle that could have become the stuff of legends for generations to come, but fate had other plans.
The Great White Eagle—the Arbiter's messenger—arrived on the eve of this fateful confrontation, bearing terrible news from the east. The demons of Siroth, the missive said, were invading Teleria and were legion. The Arbiter implored the mortal armies not to intervene and to agree to a temporary truce.
Although it pained him, the High Elf Basileus understood the value of the Arbiter's words and ordered his forces to withdraw from the battle. Shortly thereafter, the Arbiter arrived in person. She had already spoken to the Orc warlord and bent him to her will. But unlike Grohak, Roanas did not need threats or force to make his decision.
He nodded in acceptance and reached out to take the shard that would bind his soul forever. From then on, he fought for the Light of Lumaya throughout the ages, first joining his rival Grohak to thwart the demonic invasion that threatened Teleria, then answering the calls of the Arbiter and those she had appointed to face a myriad of enemies and dangers. As always, the arrows of the Basileus strike swiftly and true, and woe betide those who stand against him.
