Story of Cupid (Cupidus)

Bards and minstrels have told many stories of love so pure that it surpasses death itself. Although this is the stuff of many ballads (too many, perhaps), the kingdom of Teleria has seen these wonderful tales come to life.

One legend in particular speaks of a young girl so beautiful that she caught the jealous eye of an evil wizard, a servant of Siroth's dark will. The spells he wove allowed him to penetrate the girl and trap her in a distant fortress. Fortunately, her faith allowed the young girl to break free and regain her will before the sorcerer's evil designs came to pass, but she remained a prisoner under the threat of imminent death if she did not accept the sorcerer's advances.

But all was not lost, as his betrothed, a noble knight of great renown, rose to the challenge. He fought his way through untold dangers and countless enemies before forcing the great gates of the dark dungeon. There, all the power of the wizard's magic was unleashed on him. The knight slew hordes of Siroth's minions, ignoring his own wounds and slaying the villain with a single swing of his blessed sword. Although life is moving further and further away from his body, he chooses to spend his last strength to proclaim his love for the young girl who was finally free.

It was at this point that the Arbiter herself intervened. Although Lumaya could never guide the affairs of mortals, her faithful herald would not let a heroic act motivated by such pure love turn into tragedy. She used her power to save the dying knight, but this divine help came at a price. Unable to live without her beloved, the young girl did not hesitate to take an oath to Lumaya's cause. In return, she and her knight were granted immortal life.

There are many accounts of their subsequent adventures, some contradicting each other, others akin to fairy tales. Even their real names are lost to history, as is proof that their origins are nothing but legend. Yet one thing is certain: wherever the mysterious lovers known as Venus and Cupid appear, no darkness can withstand the fires of their passion. Thanks to the magic of Venus and the blade of Cupid, the two men saved many lives. Any warrior who gains the loyalty of these two divine servants will find their strength enhanced by the kind of purity that only love that transcends mortal boundaries can bring.
