Deformed and twisted in every sense of the word, Helicath is a creature of the Pit—one of the dark and chaotic realms that lie beyond the light of Lumaya. This ever-changing abyssal wasteland has become the last refuge of the fallen scouts who followed Siroth in his war against the Goddess.
There, they reign unchecked, building their strongholds and plotting the downfall of all that is good in Teleria. It is unclear whether Helicath is one of these primordial fallen ones or a creature born of the cruelty and madness of the centuries that followed, but no one can deny that he is both ancient and powerful.
At first glance, the demon may seem clumsy and slow, but nothing could be further from the truth; Helicath's abnormal, jerky movements can be faster than lightning, and its claws tear through steel as if it were rotting wood. However, it is his evil intelligence that poses the greatest danger. As Lord Shazar's lieutenant, Helicath oversaw the creation and training of the Demonspawn Legions in their endless preparations for war. This role allowed him not only to gain great influence, but also to select a coterie of bodyguards and servants to carry out his orders. Because Helicath, cunning and deceitful like all the members of his family, was only waiting for the opportunity to stab his sovereign in the back and take his place.
Unfortunately for him, Lord Shazar was just as cunning and knew which servants needed to be kept at a distance. He understood Helicath's ambition well and was plotting his own scheme in turn. For a time, Shazar let his treacherous lieutenant believe that everything was going according to plan.
Helicath continued to build his forces and followed Shazar's orders when the Demonspawn invaded Teleria, earning dark glory for his name on many battlefields. But as more and more demons rallied to Helicath's banner, spies sent by Shazar found it easier to infiltrate his ranks. When the time finally came to revolt against his Lord, Helicath fell into a well-prepared trap.
When he confronted Shazar in the dark throne room of the Lord's fortress, more than half of the warriors who had first sworn fealty turned their blades to Helicath. Enraged and aware that he was going to win or die, he fought with the fury of a cornered rabid beast, but could do nothing against the overwhelming number of fighters and the power of Shazar. Although many people fell to his clutches, Helicath was eventually knocked down by his master's blade.
But killing powerful demons is no easy task, even for those of their own kind. Rather than risk imprisoning Helicath and giving him a chance to escape, Shazar chose to tear the traitor's spirit apart and cast it into the hellish winds of the Pit. Thus broken, Helicath's essence made its way into Teleria over several millennia and spread to the four corners of the world.
But if these fragments could be gathered and reassembled, the demon could be reborn... And it would undoubtedly seek revenge on the one who had destroyed it.
