Story of Yaga the insatiable
Autrefois chaman respecté et protecteur de son peuple, Yaga était connu loin à la ronde parmi les tribus de Skinwalkers. On le disait capable de déchiffrer n’importe quel rêve, de guérir n’importe quel mal et d’apaiser n’importe quel esprit.
Mais un tel pouvoir a un prix. Il s’enfonça de plus en plus profondément dans le royaume de la contre-nature, et les entités avec lesquelles il traitait devinrent de plus en plus sombres.
Lentement, le cœur de Yaga devint noir, sa soif de connaissances anciennes le corrompant jusqu’à ce que la lumière de Lumaya s’éteigne. Mais on ne traite pas avec les démons sans conséquences. Par orgueil, un puissant baron des légions de Siroth maudit Yaga en l’affligeant d’une maladie que même le plus compétent des chamans Skinwalkers ne pouvait vaincre.
Lorsque Yaga se retrouva faible et désespéré, le démon lui fit une offre : l’immortalité en échange de son âme. Yaga accepta sans hésiter et, en une fraction de seconde, son corps se transforma. La pourriture qui le tuait lentement ne disparut pas, mais elle ne se propagea plus. Le corps de Yaga, infesté par la peste, se renforça au-delà de ce qu’il croyait possible : il n’était plus mortel au sens propre du terme.
Mais le prix à payer était terrifiant. Pour son salut, Yaga a été soumis à la volonté de Sirtoh et mis au service des horribles desseins du Seigneur des Ténèbres en tant que héraut de la peste. Partout où il passe, la mort et le chagrin le suivent. Son arme est maudite par des runes de peste, son regard même apporte la corruption. Seuls les plus purs peuvent espérer vaincre un tel ennemi, et seuls les plus forts peuvent espérer entraver l’Eclat de Yaga et maîtriser son déchaînement.
