How to Get to the War Master's Cabin

From the Grâce des Ruines Site devastated from above, heads north. The cabin soon comes into view, standing alone on the road, just before the entrance to the storm zone.

It is one of the first accessible locations in the game where you can buy war ashes without any special conditions.

The location is easy to find if you follow the main road of Stormhill northward.

Look for the small stone building on the right side of the path. You haven't no need to have made progress in the main quest to access it.

The Knight Bernahl : Who is he, and what does he sell?

The Knight Bernahl is a tanned NPC sitting inside the cabin during the day. He wants to teach you his combat skills and serves as a merchant for many ashes of war right from the start of the game. He's one of the first knights you'll be able to talk to in Elden Ring.

The Knight's Quest Bernahl : Complete steps

The Quest for Bernahl takes place in several stages, in very different areas of the game. Here's how to complete it.

Step 1: Get to the Volcano

After your first visit to the cabin, Bernahl leaves this place to go to the Manoir du Volcan, in the Mont Gelmir.

You'll find him inside the mansion, sitting by the fireplace. Talk to him to learn more about his past and the conditions of his membership in the Thieves' Den.

At the Manoir du Volcan, Bernahl continues to sell his war ashes. He also gives you access to Den missions if you make progress in this side quest.

Second stop: the Ruins of Farum Azula

The next part of the knight's quest takes you to the Ruins of Farum Azula, the flying city. You'll find Bernahl as an invader in this area. He attacks you alongside an ally. This battle is challenging because you have to deal with two opponents at the same time.

Once defeated, Bernahl drops his tarnished knight's sword along with an object related to his quest. And so ends his journey in Elden Ring. The Ruins of Farum are the final step for this character.

Tips for Successfully Completing the Quest Stages

Talk to Bernahl several times at each location to trigger the necessary dialogues.
Visiting the Thieves' Lair before heading to the Volcano Manor helps unlock new lines of dialogue.
In the Ruins of Farum Azula, uses an offensive war ash to shorten the battle against Bernahl and her ally.
Use a summon to deal with both enemies at the same time.

How to make the Cinerary Pearl Hunter spawn

Visit the Site of Grace at the Warmaster's Hut.
Take a break and choose «Pass the Time» until nightfall.
Return to the same Site of Grace a second time, without changing the time.
Enter the cabin: the Cinerary Pearl Hunter appears and triggers the battle.

Strategy for Defeating the Hunter

This boss packs a punch right from the start. A few tips to help you defeat him quickly.

Stay on the move at all times. The hunter fires off his shots in rapid succession.
Dodge his big moves instead of blocking with your shield.
Wait for his openings between moves to land your strikes.
A good dose of battle ash on your weapon can really cut the fight short.
Be careful not to get stuck in a corner of the cabin.

Rewards from the Hidden boss

Once the hunter is defeated, he drops the Bone Trader's Cinerary Pearl. Give this item to the Twin Maids' Corpses at the Round Table. You will then unlock the ability to purchase an unlimited number of burial bones.

These bones are used to enhance and replicate certain war ashes. This is useful for testing new war ashes on your weapons without losing the ones you already have. Unlimited access to bones greatly aids your progress in Elden Ring, especially if you play multiple combat styles.
