It is one of the Best RPGs of the Year 2025, but he remains firmly a solo artist.

No, Clair Obscur : Expedition 33 has No multiplayer or co-op modes. You play alone from start to finish, without being able to invite a friend—either online or in split-screen mode.

The battles are based on the timing of the parades, a system designed around the pace of a single player. This design makes it very difficult to incorporate co-op without completely rethinking the gameplay.

Clair Obscur: Is Expedition 33 playable via cross-play?

Without a multiplayer mode, the cross-play has no reason to exist. The game is available on computer (Steam), PS5 and Xbox Series, but it's impossible to start a session with a friend on another platform.

The only bridge between platforms is the backup. Thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere, a cross-backup operates between Xbox and computer.

Your progress is also synced between Steam and the Steam Deck. However, this sharing does not extend not on the PS5, and it's still a solo performance either way.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: can we expect a multiplayer or cooperative mode one day?

For now, No official multiplayer or co-op mode is not planned. Since its release, Sandfall Interactive has not disclosed No news or updates official statement to that effect.

There is still hope thin. The game is based on a a linear, scripted story, designed for single-player progression. Adding multiplayer to it would fundamentally change its nature.

The only way to play with others is to go through a mod unofficial. A mod called Coop Mod, available at Nexus Mods, allows you to play up to 3 players on PC. Based on feedback from the community, it works pretty well, but it’s unofficial and is available only on PC. Some players also use RemotePlayWhatever to share their screen remotely.

A shift like this isn't impossible: other single-player games have ended up adding a multiplayer mode later on. Keep an eye out for news officials from Sandfall for any new listing.

But here, the narrative structure and the turn-based pacing don't lend themselves well to that. This Game of the Year For now, 2025 remains an experiment 100 % solo.
