To solve the mystery of the Tower of the Proselyte in Elden Ring (available at PS4, PS5, Xbox and PC), you'll need the’"Erudition" emote.

Please note that the "Erudition" emote can be obtained from Thops, at the Church of Irith, in exchange for a key from the Raya Lucaria Academy. We'll start there, then move on to the two puzzles.

Where can I find the "Erudition" emote?

L'"Erudition" emote is the key to solving both puzzles. Without it, it is impossible to open either the proselyte's tower or the proselyte's spire.

Here's how to retrieve it in Elden Ring :

The idea is simple. You have to find an extra key from the Raya Lucaria Academy, then give it to the right NPC. In exchange, they'll teach you this emote.

Retrieve an additional key from the’Raya Lucaria Academy. This extra keystone is located inside the Raya Lucaria Academy, on a chandelier in the Church of the Cuckoo.
Go to the church in Irith, on the hills above Liurnia.
Talk to Thops, the NPC sitting there. Give him the extra key.
He rewards you with the "Erudition" emote, which is essential for solving the puzzles that follow.

This extra key isn't for getting into the school, so keep it for Thops. This tip is often overlooked by players who are in a hurry to get to boss.

Riddle the tower of the proselyte

To open the proselyte's tour, you need the’"Erudition" emote. Use it in front of the tower's seal to break the magical barrier and gain access to the interior.

Here are the key steps:

First, pick up the "Erudition" emote.
Stand in front of the statue in the tower in Liurnia, near the Raya Lucaria Academy.
Cast the "Erudition" emote: a magical ladder appears—no crown needed here (unlike with the "Proselyte's Arrow"). If you're looking for other useful protections, check out the Best Armor Elden Ring.

You can also try the brute-force method with Torrent, by going around the barrier on a narrow path along the cliff, just like I did in the tutorial. It's faster, but using the emote is still the proper way to solve the puzzle.

The Mystery of the Proselyte's Arrow

To solve the mystery of the Proselyte's Arrow, you'll also need the "Erudition" emote shown above. But this time, you must also be wearing a specific helmet in front of the seal.

This helmet is the Crown of Shining Stone of Karolos. It can be found in the Raya Lucaria Academy, near the Debate Hall, dropped by a sparkling crab.

Here are the steps to solve the puzzle:

First, get the "Erudition" emote from Thops (See the relevant section above.).
Go get Karolos's Stone Crown.
Put on the helmet, then use the "Erudition" emote in front of the seal to open the passage.
