How did Rocket League get started?
Before It Was Called Rocket League, the game was called Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. This first track from Psyonix was released in 2008 on PlayStation 3 and was already combining soccer, auto racing, and sports. It had been downloaded more than two million times, but it never achieved commercial success. The game suffered from a lack of publicity, a steep learning curve, and online connection issues.
Psyonix is revamping its formula and launching Rocket League in July 2015, with more fast-paced gameplay and a real sense of arcade. The concept is simple: you control a car and push a giant balloon in the opponent's half to score. You can play in solo against AI or in multiplayer.
