It is well known that the Dark Elves are descended from exiles who fled the nascent kingdom of Aravia after a bloody civil war. It was not political intrigue that led to the conflict, but rather the fascination of a significant portion of the elven aristocracy with the forbidden arts of black magic.
Fearing the effects of such evil power, the leaders of the elven race sought to put an end to this practice once and for all. Although dishonored and defeated, the Dark Elves still practice their arts far from the glittering arrows of their homeland, vowing to return one day and reclaim what is rightfully theirs.
But the High Elf royalty was right to fear dark magic. Its practice attracts the attention of Siroth's minions, its effects are often anathema to all that is sacred in Lumaya's creation. And it takes a heavy toll on those who practice it.
Pale or frighteningly blue skin and fiery orange eyes are typical features of Dark Elves, and they did not come about naturally. However, the power conferred by the dark arts is exceptional, and many seek to obtain it, whatever the cost.
The Reaper, though a warrior at heart, has mastered the subtle manipulation of energy through sacrifice. A word from her lips can weaken her enemies, making them easy prey for her and her allies, while her scythe cuts with a bloodcurdling scream that seems to prevent any benign magic from manifesting. Time itself can change course at her command—or at least, she can create the illusion of it, confusing her enemies and taking advantage of their clumsiness.
