History of Charcutier

In the civilized kingdoms of Teleria, commoners and nobles alike fear the skinwalkers, nightmarish creatures, half-man, half-beast, bloodthirsty and infamous. Many of these tales are exaggerated, for most sentient races have a natural tendency to fear the unknown and view those who are different from them with suspicion.

Alas, sometimes the darkest fantasies merge into a single despicable being. Such is the case with the butcher, a violent monster whose taste for flesh and sadistic tendencies, combined with his strength, make him a terrifying enemy. Once a slave in the mines belonging to the mage-barons, the creature quickly learned that might makes right and that only the strongest survive.

Worse still, when the meager rations given to the slaves proved insufficient for the mass of the great beast, it began to seek other sources of food. At first, the corpses of its fellow sufferers, victims of forced labor or the cruelty of their overseers, were enough for it.

Then the murders began. By the time anyone noticed, the man who would come to be known as the Butcher had taken advantage of the situation to make a bloody escape.  No one knows where he is today, but the wilderness between Arnoc and Narbuk has become dangerous in recent years, with villagers and local travelers disappearing from forest trails overgrown with vegetation.

Rumors circulate about bloodied limbs, skeletal remains with bones gnawed and split by teeth, and the appearance of a huge brute resembling a boar, and only the most daring would dare to search for this creature to establish the truth.
