History of Gala Longuenattes
Crude, violent, and extremely skilled at punching faces—provided she can reach them, otherwise the gut and groin will do—Gala Longbraids is truly the embodiment of a proper dwarf lady (according to her, at least). Indeed, many surface dwellers would be shocked to realize that Gala is actually part of the nobility, the daughter of a respected Jarl and heir to an ancient lineage.
The shock of this realization, visible on their faces, has always amused Gala. Although she had a hard time dealing with her authoritarian and overprotective father during her childhood, Gala's special talents were not wasted. After seeing his daughter get into fights with her companions far too often, the old jarl reluctantly allowed her to train in the various arts of war.
This decision proved to be a wise one when Siroth's legions invaded the jarl's fortress, besieging it and reducing it to near ruin. Never one to be a damsel in distress, Gala grabbed one of the ornate hammers from the castle armory and threw herself into battle. Even the most seasoned soldiers of the Jarl's Honor Guard couldn't help but let their jaws drop for a moment when they saw Gala smashing into the screaming mass of claws, fangs, and horns that was surging toward the fortress.
It wasn't just her breathtaking talent, but also her fearlessness and the sheer aggressiveness of her technique. Gala fought like a rabid bear, and no armor, enchanted or otherwise, could save the demonic scum from her wrath. Emboldened, the Jarl's guards let out war cries and broke the backbone of the demonic army in a day of fierce fighting. At the end of the battle, even Gala's father was left speechless.
The old man told himself that this must be the most glorious moment of his life: fighting alongside his daughter and winning a victory worthy of their great ancestors. Of course, he continued to grumble and curse when the kingdom was safe and Gala's thirst for adventure led her to join the king's expedition to the surface. But never again did he allow himself to be hindered by his child's destiny.
