The question of whether the changing seasons affect the balance between Light and Darkness in Teleria is hotly debated among scholars. Some claim that as sunlight diminishes and nature dies, the warmth of Lumaya's love recedes from the world. Otherwise, why would the Arbiter go to such lengths to recruit powerful Champions to watch over the frozen wasteland of northern Teleria?
Sir Nicholas is the best known of these heroes, but he is far from being the only one. Amidst the northernmost peaks of the Mountains of Despair, where even Dwarves dare not venture, stands a tower of sparkling ice.
Somewhere inside, a sorceress sits upon her throne, to whom Lumaya's grace once bestowed the power to rule these inhospitable peaks. Her exploits are lost in myth, and only a few rare individuals remember her name: Pyxniel.
Mortals who were fortunate enough to see her described a being of ethereal and distant beauty, enveloped in an aura of eternal frost. It was said that her footsteps left trails of chalk on the ground, that her skin was cold to the touch, and that an ancient and noble power burned in her eyes. An impressively crafted silver armor protected Pyxniel from all danger, its style and fashion echoing those of the High Elves of old.
Some believe that Pyxniel was a queen long before the rise of the Aravian domain. Others maintain that she was a noble sorceress at the court of the Basileus, whose research led her to the far north of the elven kingdom and whose life was saved by the Arbiter in exchange for her services.
In any case, most sources agree that Pyxniel was a powerful servant of Lumaya, and that her wrath was as terrible to behold as the blizzards that sweep across the snow-covered lands of the Winterlands.
For centuries, she stood guard against Siroth's evil plans. It was thanks to Pyxniel's blessing that many Champions were able to cross the treacherous passes of the Mountains of Despair unharmed. At the same time, those who served the Dark One found themselves trapped, lost, or destroyed by her magic...
But generations have passed since Pyxniel was last seen, and evil grows ever more formidable. Legend tells of a deadly battle between Pyxniel and a prince of the Demonspawn armies when Siroth last attempted to crush the mortal realms of Teleria.
Although she emerged victorious, her opponent was so powerful that Pyxniel had to use all the magic she possessed to defeat him.
