History of Espoir

Sister Espoir does much to honor her name, both on the battlefield and through her good deeds. A simple miller's daughter, she was orphaned at a young age following a brutal orc raid. Only the timely intervention of a patrol of Sacred Order riders saved her from suffering the same fate as her family, even if starving to death wasn't a much brighter prospect.

Fortunately for Hope, her appeal did not go unheeded, and she was adopted by one of the Order's abbeys, where she was educated and trained. Craftsmen and caterers of all kinds are always in demand, and it's in everyone's interest that the orphans and destitute cared for by the Order repay their debt with a lifetime of dedication.

But it wasn't a life of peace that Hope was looking for. Her experiences shaped the young woman and drove her to excel in the ways of war. She swore a powerful oath to Lumaya, imploring the goddess to give her strength, so that, by Hope's hand, atrocities such as those inflicted on her family could be averted.

Whether it's Lumaya's grace or Hope's strength of conviction, the latter has since blazed her trail as a champion of the innocent. She doesn't hesitate to dispense ruthless justice to the ungodly and outlaws, but it's her kindness and selfless devotion to her allies that make Hope an asset to any band of Champions. Her faith alone can serve as a shield for those at her side, but her anger is also terrible to behold. Her blade doesn't just shatter armor and tear flesh. Thanks to the power of faith, it dissipates the protective magic used by many enemies, exposing them to the other Champions of Espoir.
