History of Lord skull var-Gall
Centuries ago, before humans and elves appeared, lizardmen—or dragons, as they were called at the time—formed an empire of their own. Their domain stretched far and wide, and no one could challenge them... But all that is now a thing of the past. Today, the tribes of lizardmen are but a shadow of their former selves.
Most have returned to barbarism, many have embraced their bestial nature. But there remains a vestige of grandeur, a reminder of that mighty empire.
Amidst lakes once sacred to their ancestors, a tribe known as the Skullsworn still lives. This name comes from their custom of fashioning the skulls of their dead and the enemies they slay into helmets worn by warriors—a sign of respect and a chance for the deceased to fight in the name of the Great Dragon once more.
Alas, their glory faded with time, and the tribe lost ground to rivals and foreign invaders. Eventually, the descendants of the Dark One threatened the very heart of the Skullsworn domain. It was then that the tribe performed a bloody sacrifice ritual to awaken its former defender, the one whose footsteps would shake the earth and before whom all enemies would scatter.
It was a desperate cry for help, their last hope—and their Progenitor answered. Lord Skull Var-Gall, once a mighty warrior in the service of the dragon priesthood, awoke, called by the blood of his descendants. His heart filled with rage when he realized how low the once-feared tribe had fallen, and that vile invaders now sought to pollute the very waters of the lakes under his protection.
With a force that chilled his blood, he sprang into action, calling upon the primordial magic that resided in his blood to resurrect his fallen comrades. With the newly resurrected warriors reinforcing their ranks and the revered Var-Gall leading them, the Skullsworn descended upon the demons of Siroth, driving them back with teeth and claws.
Many of them perished, struck down by unholy blades during the battle, before being resurrected by the magic of their ancestors and helping to turn the tide in favor of the lizardmen. At the height of the battle, Var-Gall fought his way through the Demonspawn vanguard and plunged into the heart of their army.
Many demons lay in his wake, but Lord Skull's fury would not be appeased until the earth itself was drenched in the tainted blood of the intruders. He cleaved and sliced through entire ranks of the brood until their leader, a powerful demon baron, stood before him.
It was a battle between equals, for the leader of Siroth's servants was as massive and brutal as the Lord of Skulls himself. He charged Var-Gall, effortlessly sweeping aside any Skullsworn warriors who dared stand before him, and crashed into their champion with enough force to completely destroy a lesser mortal combatant.
But Var-Gall would not be defeated so easily. Ignoring his wounds and pain, Lord Skull rose once more and challenged them all. And so the two leaders clashed once more in the carnage of battle, each tearing at the other with claws and blades, neither giving an inch of ground.
The demonic baron was a powerful enemy, but Var-Gall had the strength of the Ancestors behind each of his blows. This was not a duel of skill and wit; the two combatants fought like beasts, and Var-Gall proved to be the more vicious of the two.
When he rose, covered in terrible wounds but victorious, and raised the head of the demonic baron for all to see, the outcome of the battle was decided. Defeated by the loss of their leader, the Demonspawn retreated in disorder.
The Skullsworn pursued them without mercy, seizing numerous trophies that day. Var-Gall himself had the demon baron's skull fashioned into a new ceremonial helmet to mark his tribe's victory over the Great Dragon.
But rather than returning to his ageless slumber, Lord Skull had chosen to remain and tread the soil of Teleria once more. He would not let his warriors fall back into oblivion, and all those who dared to invade the ancestral lands of the lizardmen would know his wrath.
