boss Elden Ring Valiant Gargoyles Fight Walkthrough
If you have visited Leyndell or attempted to fight the Black Blade Kindred outside the Beast Sanctum in Dragonbarrow, you will recognize the Valiant Gargoyles and many of their attacks. There are several variants Gargoyles scattered throughout the Lands Between who use a variety of weapon types, sometimes mixing and matching several weapons.
Valorous gargoyles are essentially inflated versions of the two-handed sword, halberd, and double blade variants of standard gargoyle enemies.
- The first valiant gargoyle wields a two-handed sword and halberd. Most sword attack combos are faster than their halberd counterparts, so you may find it easier to take damage when the gargoyle weapon change.
- Take your time and try to minimize incoming damage and keep care during this 1v1 phase.
- Once you have reduced the first gargoyle to half health, the second double-bladed gargoyle enters the arena. This is where things get complicated.
The twin gargoyle has several sweeping and charging attacks that cover a lot of ground.
- As with all boss doubles, you'll need to spend a lot of time to dodge and maximize your damage when you find an opening.
- Your goal should be to burn the remaining health of the first valiant gargoyle as quickly as possible to return to 1v1 combat.
Use the tips below to optimize your strategy for this.

How to beat the valiant gargoyles: top tips for success?
Here are our top tips for winning the fight against boss Gargoyles Vaillantes :
- Exchange status against magic damage
- Save buffs and spiritual ashes for the duo
- Use these objects and spells to eliminate poison
1. Swap statuses for magic damage
Unfortunately for the many fans of rivers of blood, the Valiant Gargoyles are completely immune to all status effects. Blood Loss and Frostbite builds lose a significant portion of their damage in a fight where damage is even higher than usual, so it's worth considering an alternative weapon.
Fortunately, gargoyles are quite weak against to magic damage, at least compared to other elements. Intelligence-based builds that typically use Frostbite can easily pivot to weapons such as the Black Moon Sword or Bastard Stars.
Arcane Blood Loss builds will have fewer options, but fortunately, the Regalia of Eochaid and thesword of the Marais executioner both measure magical damage with Arcane. These are solid substitutes for Rivers of Blood or other Arcane bleeding weapons.
2. Save buffs and spirit ashes for the duo
In most fights, summoning your Spirit Ashes and activating whatever temporary buffs you use is a smart move. Valiant Gargoyles make this decision less clear cut and really encourage you to save any one-time-use buffs like the Flask of Wondrous Physick for the duo phase. This is where most of the challenge in combat lies, so you'll want to be at your peak for this part.
Of course, dodging two gargoyles at once also makes it difficult to summon ashes, drink from a flask, or activate other buffs. Fortunately, the second gargoyle appears when the former reaches half-health, so you can give yourself a window to do so.
- Reduce the first gargoyle to just over half its health, summon your spirit ashes if you haven't already done so.
- Next, cast your Wondrous Physick and any other buffs while your summon attracts aggro.
- This will make it easier to burn the first gargoyle and return to 1v1 combat more quickly.
3. Use These Items And Spells To Eliminate Poison
You will find this battle much easier if you go in prepared to be poisoned. Both gargoyles have a poison breath attack, and it can be very difficult to avoid getting caught in the middle of it while dodging the melee attacks of another gargoyle. At some point, you are likely to be poisoned, so it is best to’have a plan to remove it.
- If you are playing a Faith version, you can add the Cure Poison or Flame incantations, Cleanse Me to your spell slots to quickly eliminate the poison.
- Other builds may use a consumable Neutralizing boluses. You can buy them in unlimited quantities from the Twin Maiden Husks after giving them the Medicine Peddler's Bell Holder, found near the hermit merchant's hut in East Altus.
- You can also consider mix Speckled Hardtear in your Flask of Wondrous Physick to obtain a punctual elimination of poison and a temporary increase in your resistance to poison.
