Technique to fight Alexandra's troll
After accepting the side quest: Fighting the Trolls, the game will redirect you to the Troll Lair that you can find across your map. Upon arrival, you'll find the troll in a large open area, which bodes well given the range of some of its attacks. It is also advisable to start this battle with your ancient magic charged to the maximum, although it is possible to get rid of the troll of Alexandra without ancient magic if you are sufficiently trained.
There are mainly 3 types of attack used by trolls in Hogwarts Legacy, and two of them are unblockable.
- The first type of attack (unblockable) is a charge attack, and you have to do a dodge roll to get out of the way. By adopting the correct stance, you can make the Troll run into a tree or a wall to stun it for a while.
- The second type of attack (unblockable) is to give you two or three blows of the club, the last blow leaving the Troll vulnerable for a few seconds.
- Finally, for the third type of attack, the troll rips a boulder out of the ground and throws it at you from time to time, especially if you are some distance away. You can block these boulders using Protego, and if successful, you'll get a short window where you can press R1/RB to send the boulder back in the Troll's direction. In addition to unlocking a Dueling Talent, this deals enough damage to stun the Troll for a while, making it a great strategy if you're at a lower level.
