Hogwarts Legacy is full of side quests, side missions that aren't linear to the game's main story, but which you must complete if you want to complete the game at 100%.
Among the various side quests, we can mention the one called Venomous Valor which is available at the start of the game, after Professor Hecat's first mission and learning the Incendio spell. Assuming you've reached at least level 5, you can start this side quest by speaking with Duncan Hobhouse, a Ravenclaw student, who you'll find in the astronomy wing of the Defense Against the Dark Arts tower. He will start the quest asking you to find and enter the secret corridor of the botany class and to prove your bravery to everyone. But the quest is not only about finding the corridor, it will also face a very dangerous plant.
We will take a closer look at the stages of this quest.

The path to the secret corridor of the botany class
The Hidden Herbalism Corridor can be accessed from its entrance located in the Hogwarts grounds, northwest of the castle, in the area where you can find bee hives if you head towards the quest marker. You will then have to find the nearby stairs to descend, and cast Incendio to burn the vines blocking the entrance, and you will manage to access the secret corridor of the botany class.
Finding evidence for Duncan
Arriving in the corridor, you will notice the presence of the Devil's Net, the deadly plant in the Harry Potter books and films that does not support light or flames, which you can therefore destroy by lighting all the torches with Incendio. However, you can simply pass through the Devil's Net, but don't stay still for too long. You'll find chests to grab on the way to the quest marker if you're not afraid to take a few small detours, but opening these chests is entirely optional.
Give the Venomous Tentacle Leaf to Duncan
Before you finish the quest, you'll come to a Giant Poisonous Tentacle and need to take one of its leaves for Duncan. Then you can exit through the greenhouses, and take the opportunity to collect useful supplies, or you can use the network of fast travel points to return directly to Duncan. You are free to give Duncan the Venomous Tentacle leaf or not, but your decision does not prevent you from receiving your rewards, namely 180 XP and the cosmetic item, a Venomous Tentacle Outfit.
