Once you arrive in the southern area of Hogwarts Castle, you may come across your first treasure chest in Hogwarts Legacy. Packed with secondary content to discover, Hogwarts Legacy offers various trials like those of Merlin which allows to increase the slots for additional equipment. The game also contains many other side quests to complete to obtain money and other rewards, or even treasure chests.
There are different types of treasure chests to be found around the land, but we'll focus on the one not far south of Hogwarts castle.

Hogwarts South Treasure Chest Location
This southern Hogwarts treasure chest is located just behind Hagrid's secluded hut. This is where Harry and his gang often go in the Harry Potter books and movies to talk to the half-giant, half-human guardian named Hagrid. You can find the chest in question by following the southern path that leads out of Hogwarts School. You will end up discovering the aforementioned hut. The red circle indicates the location of the treasure chest, while the hut is a few meters west of it. Go down from the hut towards the water and the chest icon will appear on the map.
Opening the treasure chest in the South of Hogwarts?
There will be a stone wall embedded in the side of the cliff and you may notice a cube nearby with a fire symbol above. There's also some sort of stone pedestal in front of the stone wall, and you'll need to bring the cube up to the pedestal and then hit it with a fire spell. To do all of this, you will need at least two spells: Accio and Incendio.
- Accio is obtained by completing one of the required quests in the story involving the Charms course.
- Incendio is obtained by completing Professor Hecat's first mission, which involves beating the other students with crossed wands and hitting a practice dummy with Lucan Brattleby.
Use Accio to position the cube in front of the vault, then use Incendio to activate it and make the vault door open. Inside the vault, you can find a piece of gear in a chest, which will be a random drop.
If you want to reroll the piece of equipment you find in the chest, you must save your game before opening it. Once you open the chest and find a piece of gear you don't like, they can reload the save file so you can get a different piece of gear. This system which could soon be corrected by the developers seems to work very well for the moment in the game.
