Of all the exciting activities Hogwarts Legacy has to offer, rescuing and taming beasts has to be one of the most exhilarating in the fascinating world that is filled with fabulous creatures, from the cute and fluffy Boursouf to the mighty Dragon. Saving beasts isn't particularly difficult, but it does take some time to trigger the required main quest, started by Headmistress Weasley and with the help of Cheek the Elf. We are going to talk about the steps to follow to do it.

Saving Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy
This task is done during the Elf, Capture Bag and Loom main quest, which will be activated once you attend your first Beast lesson and complete the Urtko Helmet quest.
You receive a letter from Professor Weasley informing you of the availability of the room on demand after class. Then you can start the quest and save some animals by talking with Cheek the Elf. This one will show you a tool called a catch bag, which makes it easy to transport beasts. Then, he will lead you to three different habitats of animals to initiate you to their rescue.
Using the Catch Bag in Hogwarts Legacy
By adding the catch bag to your list of spells, you can use it to save the beasts, here is some information to know:
- As soon as you spot a beast, activate the capture bag and wait for the yellow capture meter to end.
- Quickly press the button to catch the beast. Taming some of these beasts in Hogwarts Legacy requires using a spell to slow them down (like Glacius and Arresto Momentum).
- If the beast runs away, follow it and start over.
- Some types of beasts, like Mooncalf, only appear at night.
- A small and easy to capture animal like the Boursouf has only one capture meter, while others have several, depending on the type of beast.
- The number of capture counters required is indicated by white dots below the capture counter.
- You will encounter three types of beasts during the main quest, each of which requires a certain number of catch counters to catch.
- A family of Boursouf is the first, and it takes a meter of capture to tame it.
- The Jobarbill can fly extremely fast. So it's best to throw Levioso to levitate them before using the catch bag to catch it after waiting two meters to catch.
- The Mooncalf that only appears at night requires three meters to capture.
After completing the first half of The Elf, Catching Bag, and Loom quest and capturing these three beasts, Cheek tricks you into thinking about a vivarium for the creatures for the Room of Requirement to create. After a scene, the room provides a Vivarium where you can place your beasts.
You can raise a total of 12 beasts there at the same time, up to a limit of four different species at a time. Every 25 minutes after brushing and feeding the beasts, each of them will reward you with magic materials for your gear in Hogwarts Legacy.
