What is the game like?
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a game of’open-world adventure which takes place across the lands and skies of’Hyrule.
It's the direct successor of Breath of the Wild, whose universe it draws upon while expanding it considerably.
You decide for yourself which path to take, both on land and in the vast skies waiting to be explored. The goal remains to master the new capabilities for Link to face the enemies and evil forces that threaten the kingdom.
The players regain their freedom of action and the richness of the’history unique to the series, set in a world even larger than that of the previous installment.
What new features have been added to the game?
The big change in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, it's the verticality. Whereas the previous game took place on a single map, this sequel adds three levels to explore in the kingdom of’Hyrule :
- the sky and its celestial isles, where your adventure begins; ;
- The surface, an open world reimagined since Breath of the Wild ;
- The underground depths, a vast, unexplored area waiting to be discovered.
This new world significantly reduces the redundancy of the old map. You no longer revisit the same locations: the content is much more extensive, with new enemies and entire new regions.
As for gameplay, the producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed during the official demonstrations that it had added all-new capabilities to Link, allowing you, for example, to assemble objects, combine weapons with materials, or even go back in time to interact with an element of the environment.
These new features offer a much more open-ended gaming experience. The players capture the spirit of the series, but with a storyline and a history significantly richer than in the previous installment.
When is the game coming out?
Tears of the Kingdom has been available since May 12, 2023 on Nintendo Switch. The game was one of the most anticipated by the players and fans since its announcement in 2022.
The release date had initially been postponed so that Nintendo can deliver a complete, high-quality version.
