History of Escrimeuse
In the complex and Byzantine hierarchy of the High Elves, promotion to a high rank can take centuries. One of the fastest steps on the path to a higher social rank is obtaining the position of magister.
Even low-born elven warriors willing to spend 50 years serving healing magic on the battlefield can claim this title. With pride, elegance, and subtlety being the main virtues of their culture, High Elves often despise the human tradition of knightly tournaments.
The thrill of jousting and the brutal clash of lances and swords do not appeal to their sense of honor as much as the true test of finesse and skill that is fencing. Many Aravians prefer slender-bladed weapons such as rapiers and sabers to the heavier swords of their human allies.
They are often trained in the art of dance at elven sword schools, where a single precise strike to the heart is far more valued than swinging an oversized sword and decapitating several opponents at once. The masters of these schools are the epitome of High Elf martial prowess: they dress in flashy attire decorated with gold, silver, and precious stones, carry perfectly balanced enchanted rapiers, and are absolutely deadly in combat.
Their movements are like flowing water, their bodies twisting and turning with flawless grace as the elven swordsmen dodge their enemies' brutal blows, their blades striking like lightning, with precision and without hesitation. Any summoner would benefit from having such a swordsman at their side. Fortunately, there is no shortage of young nobles seeking adventure in Aravia.
