History of Archer Chaînâme

Le désert de Krokhan étant devenu un véritable creuset de cultures, il n’est pas étonnant que diverses traditions et rituels soient transmis d’une tribu ou d’un clan barbare à l’autre, se mêlant aux superstitions qui existaient depuis des centaines d’années ou se transformant en de nouvelles formes méconnaissables. L’un de ces curieux rituels s’appelle la ligature des âmes et vient des terres situées bien au-delà des mers du Sud.

Il est dangereux et souvent mal interprété par des chamans inexpérimentés, mais lorsqu’il est correctement accompli, il peut rendre un guerrier beaucoup plus mortel. Cependant, le guerrier doit d’abord survivre à une intense concoction d’herbes narcotiques et de poison qui le met en transe pendant que les chamans psalmodient et invoquent les esprits des morts.

S’ils y parviennent, les ancêtres du guerrier sont invoqués et peuvent lui apporter bénédiction et protection. Il est en effet tout à fait possible d’invoquer des êtres malveillants d’outre-tombe, des spectres de haine et de faim qui ne demandent qu’à dévorer les barbares infortunés qui ont osé troubler leur sommeil.

Cependant, les guerriers qui ont subi avec succès la ligature des âmes sont réputés pour leur chance presque surnaturelle. Leurs lances et leurs flèches trouvent les moindres failles des armures lourdes avec une facilité déconcertante, leurs attaques paralysent l’ennemi, et même leurs alliés semblent bénéficier de cette bonne fortune tant qu’ils combattent aux côtés de l’âme-lien.
