History of Bâtonneur (Cudgeler)
The Brawlers are a small but unique guild of warriors who have carved out a place for themselves in dwarven society. They eschew the heavy armor dear to their kindred and wear their hair in a style clearly influenced by foreign traditions, which is almost unthinkable for a dwarf worthy of the name. Their weapon of choice is also unusual: a two-handed staff with two mace-like crowns. They wield it with great precision, deflecting and counter-attacking in a fearsome flurry of blows. Legend has it that the guild's founder, an adventurer whose name is long lost to history, traveled far and wide, learning what he could of different cultures and their methods of warfare. However, none appealed to him more than the martial arts of the mysterious East, a land said to lie far beyond the cursed Brimstone Pass and the stormy seas that separate the continents. Upon his return, the daring adventurer wanted nothing more than to share his knowledge so that his people would grow from it. Although the dwarfs' isolationist tendencies make the task difficult, he eventually founds a guild of warriors who will transmit his teachings through the centuries.
