History of Charcutier

Dans les royaumes civilisés de Teleria, les roturiers comme les nobles craignent les marcheurs de la peau, créatures de cauchemar, mi-hommes, mi-bêtes, assoiffées de sang et infâmes. Nombre de ces récits sont exagérés, car la plupart des races sensibles ont pour vice naturel de craindre l’inconnu et de regarder avec méfiance ceux qui sont différents d’elles.

Hélas, il arrive que les fantasmes les plus sombres se fondent en un seul être méprisable. C’est le cas du charcutier, un monstre violent dont le goût pour la chair et les tendances sadiques, associés à sa force, en font un ennemi terrifiant. Autrefois esclave dans les mines appartenant aux mages-barons, la créature a rapidement appris que la force fait le droit et que seuls les plus forts survivent.

Pire encore, lorsque les maigres rations données aux esclaves se sont avérées insuffisantes pour la masse de la grande bête, celle-ci a commencé à chercher d’autres sources de nourriture. Dans un premier temps, les cadavres de ses compagnons d’infortune, victimes des travaux forcés ou de la cruauté de leurs surveillants, lui suffisent.

Puis les meurtres ont commencé. Le temps que l’on s’en aperçoive, celui que l’on allait appeler le charcutier en profita pour s’évader de façon sanglante.  Personne ne sait où il se trouve aujourd’hui, mais la région sauvage entre Arnoc et Narbuk est devenue dangereuse ces dernières années, les villageois et les voyageurs locaux disparaissant des sentiers forestiers envahis par la végétation.

Des rumeurs circulent sur des membres ensanglantés, des restes de squelettes aux os rongés et fendus par les dents, ainsi que sur l’apparition d’une énorme brute ressemblant à un sanglier, et seuls les plus téméraires oseraient essayer de rechercher cette créature pour établir la vérité.
