History of Authoratrix Lamasu

The Firstborn Lamasu was born with the unshakeable conviction that she was entitled to rule over all those she watched over. She admired Lumaya, the embodiment of order and hierarchy, but she was irritated by the Goddess's demands for mercy and restraint. Only Siroth could offer her the authority she deserved in exchange for an eternity of loyal service. He recognized her mastery of war, combat, and strategy. He wanted her by his side.

Lamasu joined Siroth during the Great Divorce. She brought with her a legion of Firstborns, fascinated by the air of dominance written large on her forehead, carried by her voice, and in the majesty of her form. She was fundamentally graceful and perfectly elegant, with resplendent white wings. Although the banishment spell prevented Siroth from conquering Teleria, Lamasu found in Anathraad the power and respect she believed she deserved. While Siroth's other more powerful servants plotted and dared to dream of usurping his power, Lamasu remained loyal. She knew she was the natural ruler of all Demons, regardless of their own perception of their rank. She considered plots against her and against her lord to be one and the same. When she discovered the culprits, she punished them with impressive violence, without a shred of emotion.

When the creation of the Demon Spawn was launched following the Sin of the Dragons, Lamasu poured his essence into a captured Elf of great beauty and renown, and recreated his former body in a dark and menacing form: still superb, but terrible, his wings now black like his soul, his voice still enchanting, but now cold and hard as steel. She plunged through the Gate of Sulfur to join Teleria and became absolutely furious when Siroth's armies were repelled, berating all the Demon Spawn for their weakness.

Siroth, bitterly jealous and paranoid, trusted no demonic servant except Lamasu. As if in some twisted mockery of the Arbiter of Lumaya, she became Siroth's right-hand woman and was given the title of Authoratrix. When Siroth discovered how to create portals to Teleria, she was among the first to rush through them.

Seats are Lamasu's specialty: defeating defenders and conquering a fortress is a clear sign of her dominance over a place and its surroundings. When enemies attack these captured fortresses, she vigorously defends what she considers her natural property. Her armies are equally relentless, incredibly disciplined, and resolutely committed. Fighting in each of the Great Wars of Siroth, Lamasu won resounding victories against many skilled mortal generals, slaughtering the great elven commander Kasimis and his honor guard in a perfectly executed night raid and deploying Forgedoulers to undermine the citadel of Harkon's Breach, causing it to collapse from below. She stopped at nothing to achieve victory.

During the Second Great War, Lamasu laid siege to the Free City of Holmskurt, a prosperous fortified warehouse protected by walls that were among the strongest in Kaerok. Rising higher than the tallest redwoods and guarded by protective magic imbued in the mortar, they had thwarted the efforts of many Demon Spawn generals, and Lamasu was determined to prove her superiority. For several bloody months, siege engines forged in hell pounded the walls with flaming cannonballs and green orbs of disease-carrying magical acid. Swarms of Demon Spawn scaled the smooth surface in search of weaknesses, leaving the defenders exhausted and terrified.

Nevertheless, the walls held firm. Lamasu redoubled her efforts. Soaring into the smoke-filled skies, she directed the fire of her war machines, targeting hospitals, granaries, and gathering places. She concocted a tarry mixture to seal the loopholes in the walls, reducing the defenders' ability to fire on the besiegers. She sent swarms of flying imps to circle the city and scream with unholy vigor, preventing the occupants from sleeping and filling what little sleep they managed to get with nightmares. The defenders became so exhausted and demoralized that they had no hope of repelling Lamasu's final assault.

She ordered her devoted army to gather into a dense mass and storm the walls. The Demonic Spawn climbed on top of each other, forming a living ramp. Those in the middle trembled and struggled to support the weight above them, and those at the bottom were crushed, but the attack continued. The tower of monstrosities rose above the ramparts, and Lamasu strode across it with a nonchalant, triumphant gait. The rest of her horde followed her and poured into the city. It was natural for the Authoratrix to claim victory by trampling on the flesh and bodies of her subjects.

Lamasu now dominates Anathraad. There are pretenders and conspirators, but she is an insurmountable obstacle for them. However, Teleria does not belong to her, as Siroth's plans to seize it have failed. Nevertheless, she remains determined. Even if Teleria is torn apart by war, an assault from Anathraad would unite it. Patience is required. Moreover, she has another goal. Lamasu does not simply want to conquer Teleria. She also wants the Halls of Eternity. She would take Lumaya's place as Goddess, as she knows she deserves it.
