History of Kreela Witch-Arm
The daughter of a dying tribe, Kreela had a beginning marked by loss and hopeless struggle. His people have been driven from their lands time and time again by their rivals, by neighboring humans, and even by the restless dead who sometimes stand among the sands of the Krokhan Desert. When her parents fell to the blades of the slavers, she found herself chained and taken away with the rest of the "cattle". His fate was uncertain and grim. But there was a glimmer of hope, as an old orc shaman saw the potential in a desperate, malnourished young girl. The slavers were loath to give any of their captives to the old man, but they could not oppose the demands of their tribe's spiritual leader without facing serious consequences. So they gave in and Kreela became her savior's apprentice. For years, she underwent grueling training and learned both the art of combat and the means to commune with beings from beyond. Through meditation, chanting, and carefully prepared herbal concoctions, she could communicate with earth spirits and long-dead orcs. She sometimes walked among them and channeled their otherworldly strength to energize herself and the warriors in her charge. But Kreela had never forgotten the evils she and her family had suffered, not even when she was accepted as a full member of the tribe. She had waited a long time, plotting in secret and greedily gathering all possible knowledge in the service of her mentor. It was not until he died that she struck, for if her blood demanded revenge, she must also honor the goodness of the shaman. Kreela gave a speech at the funeral pyre, calling for unity and the expansion of the tribe's domain – the spirits had ordered it, she claimed. In reality, she sought to impose her own will rather than follow dreams and visions. With the help of young tribesmen loyal to her, she orchestrated a series of "omens" that all led to the accomplishment of her designs. Slowly, she rounded up the oldest and most honored warriors – all of whom she knew were part of the raiding party that captured her years ago – and tasked them with a task she knew was impossible. . The signs Kreela claimed to have seen were false, and the warriors took on an enemy much larger than themselves, with no hope of success. Many perished in the attempt, and those who survived were slain by Kreela's minions as they retreated. Back in the village, Kreela manipulated events so that the families of the victims were ruined and had no way to survive. They were reduced to servitude under the authority of the new shaman, and although it was far less cruel than what she had endured, her revenge was no less total and ruthless. It was then that Kreela began to expand her influence. If she did not hesitate to fabricate her own prophecies if necessary, her shamanic clairvoyance remained no less authentic. With her revenge accomplished, nothing stopped Kreela from sending her tribe to fight the neighboring human barbarians who were vying for their territory and limited resources. To establish her reputation, Kreela led the raiding party herself. She used her arcane powers to energize orc warriors and drive them to heights of courage and violence. Although the Norr they had faced that day were strong, the orcs proved stronger. They overcame the defenses, fought their way through the barbarian combatants, and cheered as Kreela herself slew the enemy shaman in a duel of blades and magic. It was upon seeing her standing over her opponent, her arm covered in blood and burning with eldritch fire, that Kreela received her nickname, Arm of the Witch. It was by this name that she made herself known to all the surrounding tribes, and it was this name that inspired both fear and respect in her fellow orcs.
