History of Myrmidon

Myrmidons are elite men-at-arms in the service of the Banner Lords of Kaerok, equipped and trained to the highest standards available in the realm. Their name is old and proud, and dates back to the fearsome warriors who served the city-states before the rise of Kaerok. These were the fearsome heavy infantry, the chain fist of any army commanded by the tyrants of yesteryear. Their skill with the spear was legendary, as was their stamina. Modern Myrmidons strive to be worthy of this legend, and only veteran soldiers who have survived countless battles against overwhelming forces can be honored with this title. Their spears have been replaced by axes, maces, and sturdy oaken shields, and their armor is adorned with the heraldry of their overlords and badges of honor. Watching these fearless heroes charge through enemy formations is an inspiring sight – unless you're on the wrong side of a Myrmidon's axe, of course.
