On dit que les seigneurs de la bannière du royaume de Kaerok aiment beaucoup créer des sociétés et des fraternités parmi leurs membres. Cela permet aux nobles de se distinguer aux yeux de leurs pairs, d’améliorer leur statut social – si la société “secrète” recueille suffisamment d’influence et de prestige – et de divertir les chevaliers qui s’ennuient.
Cependant, certains de ces groupes se réunissent pour des raisons authentiques et honorables, comme la protection des vastes terres de Kaerok contre les divers ennemis qui menacent le royaume du roi. À l’instar de l’Ordre sacré qui, par le passé, a été formé à partir de chevaliers kaerokiens, la Légion est un ordre de guerriers qui se consacre au service de Lumaya.
Contrairement aux templiers et aux autres serviteurs de l’Ordre sacré, les légionnaires ne renoncent pas aux vœux de fidélité féodale et continuent de servir le roi de Kaerok. Néanmoins, les légionnaires s’inspirent des traditions anciennes et s’efforcent de mener une vie d’humble piété. Même les roturiers les plus humbles sont acceptés dans leurs rangs – une décision scandaleuse qui a considérablement nui à la popularité et à la réputation de la Légion parmi les Seigneurs de la Bannière eux-mêmes.
Les membres de la noblesse qui rejoignent la Légion sont souvent de jeunes chevaliers qui n’ont rien à leur nom, ou ceux dont la fortune familiale a été perdue depuis longtemps. Cependant, certains abandonnent volontiers leurs grands domaines et leurs richesses inouïes au nom de Lumaya. Ces individus comptent parmi les guerriers les plus déterminés et les plus justes de la Légion, et leur expertise militaire profitera à tout invocateur qui parviendra à recruter l’un d’entre eux.
