Tallia's story

Sometimes love blooms early and stays in the hearts of those touched by its warmth for the rest of their lives. Such is the story of Fenax and Tallia. He was the son of a destitute nobleman, who served in Tallia's father's household. She – a beloved heiress. Although they had sworn to marry each other from childhood, no one had taken this vow seriously. And when Tallia's father realized that this wasn't just child's play, that their love wasn't dying, it was far too late. The maiden was far too stubborn and savage to be forced into obedience, and the old lord had hatched a cunning dark plot. Fenax, then a squire, was sent with an "important message" to a nearby bannerman. Alone, unescorted, of course, because messengers must travel fast and light. The Lord had planned that a group of orc raiders would ambush Fenax and kill him – a tragedy, yes, but one that his daughter would forget in time. Unfortunately for the Lord, he had ignored Fenax's spirit. Although ambushed, Fenax managed to convince his captors that he was in fact the heir of an important baron who would pay the savages generously. The greedy brigands did not hesitate to take him to the camp, hoping to deceive the lord and obtain the two rewards. When the search party in pursuit of Fenax saw him "suddenly" disappear on the road, Tallia's father became concerned. He ignored his daughter's pleas to send a party of men-at-arms to save his beloved from the orcs, who left many traces that could identify him. The lord angrily refused, but once again he was wrong in his calculations. Furious, Tallia escaped the castle to stage her own rescue. A dangerous undertaking, to be sure. But fate is not always cruel. A patrol of the Holy Order fell on the young woman, their sergeant being a man of honor and piety who did not shrink from his duty to protect the innocent. With their help, Tallia managed to find Fenax and free him from the raiders after a fierce fight in which she too was baptized by fire. After a loving embrace and words of comfort, Tallia couldn't help but wonder what was so important that her beloved risked his life to deliver him. She opened the letter to find that there was not a single drop of ink left. But there was no need, the empty parchment spoke of his father's betrayal louder than any words. Hurt and furious, the two young lovers do not let themselves be defeated. Refusing to return to the man who would so cruelly separate them, they both swore an oath to join the Order and dedicate their lives to Lumaya, an oath they honored in the face of countless minions of darkness – together.
