Vildrax History
Even among the cursed demons of Siroth, it would be hard to find a beast as vile and loathsome as Vildrax, the Duke of Flies. It is a creature of greed, pestilence and endless hunger. His body takes on the appearance of both a human and an insect – a twisted, profane mockery made of rough, red flesh. When the demon speaks, his voice rings out like the buzzing of a myriad of flies, and the stench of rot hangs heavy in the air around him.
Although Vildrax was not one of the fallen Lightbringers who rebelled against Lumaya, he is nonetheless an ancient and powerful creature. The soul of the first mortal to seek to unlock the secrets of Undeath is said to be the larva from which Vildrax sprang, and it was this unholy ambition that shaped the demon's mind. He hates all things beautiful and pure and would plunge the entire kingdom of Teleria into a state of decay if he had the power.
Even those who hold a higher position in the hierarchy of the Demonspawn Legions are the object of Vildrax's scorn. He feels he deserves a far greater position than he currently holds and often works in secret to undermine those he sees as his rivals. Unfortunately, delusions of grandeur hide a cunning and malevolent mind, and what Vildrax lacks in innate power he makes up for in subterfuge. Her minions are scattered across Teleria, infiltrating both organizations dedicated to Lumaya and the most prominent cults of Siroth.
The few times Vildrax deigns to grace the battlefield, he transforms the melee into a terrifying spectacle of dark magic. Swirling arcane energies and swarms of demonic scavenger flies fill the air as Vildrax spreads his hexes through enemy ranks like a plague, reveling in the despair he sows. His evil presence alone is enough to hamper the efforts of the healers fighting on the other side by siphoning their power into the twisted form of the Duke. Of course, there's usually a solid wall of minions ready to pounce on the enemy so their master doesn't have to foul himself in melee.
Although most mortals would hate the presence of such a despicable creature, Vildrax himself has no qualms about working with lesser beings to further his goals. Indeed, if his ambition demanded it, he would probably have helped the Arbiter herself just to get rid of a rival. But anyone foolhardy enough to seek such alliances must beware: demons are not to be trusted, and Vildrax will always place his unknown goals above all else.
