History of Wurlim Frost King (Wurlim Frostking)
According to Genesis legend, after creating the land and skies of Teleria, Lumaya wished to see its vast domains before retiring from the mortal world. So she went far and wide, through the shady forest of Durham and the windswept lands of Krokhan, over the raging oceans and to the isles of the mysterious Orient. On the very last leg of her journey, the goddess traveled to the frozen pinnacle of the world, the Winter Lands. It was there that she turned to contemplate her creation and wept with grief, for even she could not save her children from the evils and sorrows that were about to befall them. Her tears melted the ice of the glacier and formed a magical lake, the Lumaya Fountain, whose waters could heal any ailment or injury. Some dared to suggest that even the dead could be brought back to life, for it was the very love of the goddess that was taking shape. Over the millennia that followed, many villains attempted to take over the Police. The dastardly brood of Siroth, necromancers and tyrants, all hoping to harness Lumaya's power for their own selfish purposes. The Arbiter had intervened to thwart these plans, but she alone could not protect all of Teleria. So she sought help, recruiting to her cause a clan of powerful ice giants who inhabited the Winterlands, the Jotun. Their leader, Wurlim Frostking, a sturdy giant, had pledged the strength of his people to Lumaya. In return, the Arbiter granted him powers beyond mortal comprehension, proclaiming him one of Lumaya's chosen ones in this desolate part of the world. For centuries Wurlim and his people fought the filthy servants of Siroth. Other champions joined him, the fierce Ursins brothers and the noble knight Stag, and together they held the darkness in check. Alas, despite their best efforts, Siroth's power could not be denied. As the Shadow and corruption spread across Teleria, the Jotun found themselves outnumbered and gradually overwhelmed. The Enemy was insidious, as its minions used the reanimated corpses of the giants to strike fear among the defenders. Some renounced their vows and fled south to join other members of their kind or forge their own paths as mercenaries rather than face the eternal torment of the undead. Discord had even been sown among the Arbiter's champions: the Knight of the Stag proposed to encase the Font in ice with an intricate arcane ritual and abandon it - for a time - while the pride of the Forstking did nothing. not allow him to abandon the lands he had sworn to protect. Instead, Wurlim led his surviving warriors into a last stand, shouting challenges at the enemy and calling on Lumaya's favor to aid him in battle. But there was no miracle on this ground, only despair. Defeated and mortally wounded, Wurlim used his last strength to deny and curse Lumaya for the false goddess she was. He voluntarily offered his soul to Siroth in exchange for his revenge, and the Dark One accepted. In a flash of cold blue light, Wurlim was reborn. He was no longer mortal flesh, but a creature of ice and hate, driven only by the bitter desire to destroy. For his first act in the service of Darkness, Wurlim Frostking overthrew the necromancer who commanded the undead army and took his place and its head. With countless servants now at his disposal, he hurried to the fountain. But as the last Lumayen fell and Wurlim made his way to the arcane nexus, he saw that it was encased in ice that would not shatter no matter what spells or weapons were thrown at it. . Nor did he find the Stag Knight and the other Champions to whom he owed retribution. With a howl of rage that shattered glaciers, the Frostking swore he would not rest until the Font was desecrated and the Winterlands belonged to Siroth. It doesn't matter how many lives it would take.
