The side quests in Hogwarts Legacy each have their level of difficulty, with a wide variety of missions to offer players.
The side quest called The Treasure of the Cursed Tomb in particular involves deciphering a treasure map that shows the location of a chest and how to solve a certain puzzle, which makes the quest a little complicated to complete.
You also need to know the Alohomora spell to be able to start this quest because you will need to retrieve the map from a locked chest.

Beginning the Cursed Tomb Treasure Quest in Hogwarts Legacy
To trigger this side quest, you must complete the main quest The Helm of Urtkot and find the treasure map, which you can get in the old mansion. To achieve this, travel to the Pointe du Manoir area, then fast travel to the Flame of Bainbourg. Then you can summon a Broomstick or any other mount available in the game to fly southwest to the Ancient Mansion. The entrance to the mansion is overrun with Inferi, so make sure you have a fire spell available.
Once all the enemies have been eliminated, you must go up the large western staircase and go around to the left. Defeat some more Inferi and approach the door to the south. Then, go up the slope and turn right to arrive in front of a skeleton statue, which is a secret entrance. Light the brazier with a fire spell to be taken underground.
You will immediately be ambushed there by Alissa Travers and later by the Lord of the Manor. After defeating the enemies in this area, open the locked chest with Alohomora I in the corner to get the card that triggers the Cursed Tomb Treasure quest.
Location indicated on the treasure map
If you look at the map, you'll notice a marker placed over a spot that appears to be between two mountains and hidden behind a waterfall. The only known location that exhibits these characteristics is the Tomb of Betrayal in the Weightear Coast region. Teleport to the tomb's Floo Flame and enter the cave.
Enter the Tomb of Betrayal, then continue north until a tomb filled with bones appears. Burn the webs blocking the north tunnel with a fire spell and continue to defeat some spiders. To continue advancing through the tomb, the locked door requires three moths to open.
Unlocking the Moths Door
The first and second Butterflies are inside the room on the right side:
- The first is immediately visible.
- The second is guarded by webs that can be removed using a fire spell.
- Guide the two butterflies using Lumos to the door.
- The third and final butterfly is in the left room where a small box can be seen behind some webs.
To collect the third moth:
- Get rid of the webs blocking the box.
- Use Accio to pull the box under the high platform.
- Launch Levioso to make it levitate.
- Climb on the box to reach the platform.
- Use Lumos on the moth and guide it to the door.
Now that the moth door is finally unlocked, the last room is filled with Inferi. After beating them, you will be able to solve the final puzzle inside the tomb.
Solving the riddle of the Tomb of Treason
There are eight tiles in total on the floor, which look like the map design. To solve this puzzle, use Flipendo to flip three tiles according to the picture on the treasure map. Next, the middle square will rise to reveal a treasure chest, which contains your reward, namely the Treasure Seeker's Outfit and 400 Galleons.
