In what order should you watch the x men?

The saga X-Men account 13 films, two series and intertwining timelines: it's hard to keep track of everything. There are three ways to watch it, and the right choice depends on what you want to get out of it.

1. Cinema release order: the easiest to follow

If that's your first time In the world of mutants, it begins with the’cinema release order. You follow the narrative arc intended by the directors, and you get to enjoy how the special effects and cast have evolved over the years.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Wolverine: The Immortal's Battle are two spin-offs centered on the mutant with adamantium claws.

2. Chronological order: the most logical

The chronological order follows the sequence of events in the story, not the release dates. This is the most immersive to understand the saga from start to finish. You get the The Origins of the X-Men Characters in order, their motivations and their relationships, from the youth of Charles Xavier and Magneto until the final battle of Logan.

You also have a better understanding of the consequences of the time travel in *Days of Future Past*, which turns the entire timeline on its head.

A tip: keep Logan for the ending, even in chronological order. The emotional impact is much stronger when you've been following Wolverine since X-Men Origins until that final battle.

3. Customized order: the most flexible

Do you want to watch movies based on your preferences, without worrying about the chronological order? The custom order is perfect for you. Two options work especially well.

By trilogy

You watch each installment of the series one after another. It's the perfect way to understand how the cast and characters evolve.

• Original Trilogy (2000s): X-Men, X-Men 2 and X-Men : L’Affrontement Final.
• Prequels (1960s–1990s): X-Men : Le Commencement, X-Men : Days of Future Past, X-Men : Apocalypse and X-Men : Dark Phoenix.

Days of Future Past bridges the gap between the two blocks. The film creates a new timeline that rewrites some of the events. That's where you see both the young and the old versions Professor Xavier (Charles Xavier), as well as the two versions of Magneto (Erik Lehnsherr).

By character, focusing on Wolverine and Deadpool

If you'd especially like to follow Wolverine, Marvel's most popular mutant, starts with these three movies in this order:

• X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009): The Character's Origins.
• Wolverine: The Immortal's Battle (2013): His trip to Japan.
• Logan (2017): The hero's final battle, alongside the young Laura.

Next, move on to the trilogy Deadpool, focusing on Wade Wilson : Deadpool (2016), Deadpool 2 (2018) and Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). This latest film brings the two characters together and marks the debut of Wade Wilson in the universe Marvel Studios.

Also note that there is The New Mutants (2020) and two series, Legion and The Gifted, which take place in parallel universes. You can save them for last, once you've finished the main series.
