What is a Founder Badge on Twitch?

What is the definition of a "founder badge"?

the founder's badge (Founder Badge) is automatically assigned by Twitch to a channel's very first paying subscribers. It rewards those who supported a streamer early on, before their community grew.

💡 This status is not available only on affiliated channels and partner channels. If your channel does not yet have one of these statuses, no founder badge can be issued.

✅ To get it as a subscriber: You must be one of the very first Prime or paid subscribers to an affiliated channel, or have subscribed before the channel became a partner. Subscriptions offered by a third party do not count.

⌛ This badge will remain linked to your username in the chat as long as your Subscription is active. It's a true sign of support, visible to the entire community with every message sent live.

Is it possible to remove or reassign Twitch Founder badges?

Technically, no. The founder's badge is automatically assigned by Twitch and you can't delete it or add it manually from your dashboard.

❌ There is, however, one situation in which the badge may disappear. If a founder lets their subscription expire, the badge will no longer be visible in the chat next to their username. They will still be listed as a founder on your dashboard, however.

✅ The reassignment then happens automatically. As soon as the person subscribes again, the Founder badge reappears automatically. A spot only becomes permanently available if a subscriber decides never to subscribe to your channel again.

How do you change the founders of your Twitch channel?

• Go to your dashboard Twitch,
• Then, in the channel's statistics section.
• Then click on «View your followers» details,",
• Then select the «Manage Your Founders» option.

You can then decide which of your first paying subscribers gets to keep the badge. In practice, you remove those who are no longer subscribers and keep those who still support your channel.

Please note that this management is limited to the founders: You can't just add any user, because their status depends solely on how long they've been subscribed.

Can a "Founder" badge be assigned manually?

No. On Twitch, you can't give the founder's badge to a subscriber yourself. The platform handles everything automatically, and there’s no setting in your dashboard that allows you to assign it to a specific user.

As the channel owner, you don't have to do anything: the status is triggered automatically as soon as the first payments are received. You can hide this badge in your settings, but you can never delete it or control it directly.
