History of Sieur Nicolas
The ancient legends of all Teleria speak of a mighty warrior whose life spans many years. He first walked this land when the world was still young, stood alone against insurmountable odds, and slew twisted creatures that would devour the sun itself.
It was he who ventured beyond the barren tundra and into the ancient frozen lands of northern Telerian to break an army of ice giants that threatened to overwhelm the young human kingdoms. After slaying the king of the giants in single combat, he seized the castle carved into a glacier and turned it into a fortress dedicated to Lumaya.
Such is the story of Sir Nicholas, known by various names to the inhabitants of Teleria, but ever-present in their folklore. It is said that to this day, he sits upon a throne among the towers of jagged ice, gazing out upon the world through a scansion crystal gifted to him by the Arbiter herself.
It is through his judgment that the righteous receive great blessings and the wicked receive their just punishment. While Sir Nicholas may not be as omnipotent as some tales portray him, there is no denying that many powerful villains have disappeared without a trace on the night of the winter solstice...
