Assassins play a crucial role in the brutal order the Dark Elves have established after their exile from the lands of Aravia. They put an end to political rivalries and settle disputes. They weed out unwanted voices that go against the will of the Highborn and ensure that only the most cunning reach the top. It takes dedication and the skill of a natural killer to become a true master, whose services will be valued by the noble houses of Durham. Gwynneth knew no other life. She was sold to an underground blade guild as a child and spent her youth undergoing grueling training. The guild saw her potential, and her cruel masterminds didn't hesitate to make the girl a living weapon. No other of their apprentices has shown such skill with the spear, or such a willingness to kill in cold blood when ordered to. When Gwynneth reached adulthood, she was little more than a dagger in elven form: passionless, cold, ruthless. She donned a silver mask during her initiation, hiding her face from the world and becoming a perfect infiltrator. For years, Gwynneth posed as a servant, traveling minstrel, or merchant to deceive her victims, and it was far too late to flee when she revealed her true nature. It was far too late to flee when she revealed her true nature. No one ever lived to tell the tale. Although invisible, Gwynneth's reputation grew along with the price of her services. The unthinkable happened when the Guild of Blades accepted a contract to kill the heiress of a rising noble family. They chose Gwynneth for this task, and she had managed to infiltrate the house in the guise of a nanny. Yet, as she searched for the perfect opportunity to carry out her mission, Gwynneth realized that she didn't have the heart to take down a young girl. The realization dawned, and the assassin was forced to face the atrocities she had committed and suffered at the hands of her guardians. Disgusted, she flees the mansion, the contract not having been fulfilled. But the Guild would never let its betrayal go unpunished – it had to strike first to ensure its own safety and that of the child it had refused to murder. Luckily for Gwynneth, news of her escape had not yet reached the guild masters, and her reputation was such that she managed to return to the hideout without arousing suspicion at first. The ensuing slaughter was terrible to watch, and in its climax, Gwynneth found herself face to face with her former mentor. The two exchanged no words – their language was that of steel. The confrontation was brief and brutal; though injured and exhausted, Gwynneth remained victorious. Yet, even though most of the Blades lay dead at her feet, Gwynneth's revenge was far from over. The so-called family that sold her into slavery had a lot to answer for, and those who hired her to kill a child were still at large. With newfound determination, Gwynneth retrieved an enchanted dragonscale breastplate from the guild's armory and rode off into the night again.
