History of Sombre Elhain
Elhain was never an easy ally to befriend. Noble of Aravia, daughter of a proud Elven lineage, she had inherited the arrogance and sense of superiority of the High Elves. She was proud and determined, perfecting her art of the bow from an early age and seeking to measure herself against the most formidable challenges.
For all her smugness, Elhain sincerely believed in Lumaya's precepts and sought to eradicate evil wherever it was found. Recruited into the service of the Arbiter, she found herself in the company of an unlikely group: Athel, a paladin of the Sacred Order; a banished black mage, Kael, seeking refuge from powerful rivals; and an orc warrior, Galek, whose savagery and brutality she had always despised.
But the oath she had sworn obliged Elhain to remain faithful to her duty, and it was with these colorful allies that she continued on her journey. When Sir Nicholas arrived from the North, bearing disturbing news and seeking help, it was Elhain who volunteered to assist him - a decision Sir Nicholas himself had foreseen in his vision.
He recruited the young elven warrior into his own group of champions heading for the winter lands. Along the way, Elhain proved herself worthy of the esteemed company in which she found herself - with Princess Lyssandra of Aravia and the King of the Dwarf Mountain at her side, it was a difficult challenge to meet! - by her actions and words.
She used her skills and keen eye to stay one step ahead of the Company, eliminating many threats before they could endanger her allies, and taking down numerous enemies with breathtakingly accurate shots. But bandits and bloodthirsty orc raiders were of no importance.
Elhain's true test came when she and her allies reached the Winterlands. There, an army of undead led by the vengeful Wurlim Frostking ambushed the champions and nearly trapped them on a narrow mountain path. Without Elhain's bravery and quick thinking, their quest would have ended there. But she sacrificed herself, provoking an avalanche that swept away the bulk of the skeletal horde and crushed them against the mountainside.
Alas, Elhain was unable to save herself and perished under the snow. Furious at having lost his servants, Wurlim sent the undead to discover Elhain's body and performed a vile and cruel ritual that prevented her soul from returning to the Shard to which it had been bound by the Arbiter. Trapped and subjected to the Frostking's will, Elhain was brought back to a new world.
His heart was encased in ice, his loyalty and honor replaced by cold, ruthless cunning and unwavering obedience to his new master. With Wurlim, the creature who was once Elhain headed for the Fountain of Lumaya, in the heart of the Winterlands, determined to prevent his former companions from thwarting the Dark One's plans.
This could be his salvation, for the fountain's water was known to restore life and purify the curse of unreturnable death. But before it could be restored to its former glory, Sir Nicholas and the others would have to survive their friend's deadly fighting skills and the Frostking's fury...
