Tallia's story

Sometimes, love blossoms early and remains in the hearts of those touched by its warmth for the rest of their lives. Such is the story of Fenax and Tallia. He was the son of a penniless nobleman who served in the house of Tallia's father. She was a beloved heiress. Although they had sworn to marry each other since childhood, no one took that vow seriously.

And when Tallia's father realized that this was not just child's play, that their love was not fading away, it was far too late. The young girl was far too stubborn and wild to be forced into obedience, and the old lord had devised a dark and cunning plot.

Fenax, then a squire, was sent with an "important message" to a neighboring banneret. Alone, without escort, of course, for messengers must travel fast and light. The Lord had foreseen that a band of orc raiders would ambush Fenax and kill him—a tragedy, to be sure, but one that his daughter would forget with time.

Unfortunately for the Lord, he had not taken Fenax's spirit into account. Although ambushed, Fenax managed to convince his captors that he was in fact the heir to an important baron who would pay the savages handsomely. The greedy bandits did not hesitate to take him to camp, hoping to deceive the lord and obtain both rewards.

When the search party that had set out in pursuit of Fenax saw him "suddenly" disappear on the road, Tallia's father became concerned. He ignored his daughter's pleas to send a group of armed men to rescue her beloved from the orcs, who had left behind numerous clues that could be used to identify him.

The lord refused angrily, but once again, he had miscalculated. Furious, Tallia escaped from the castle to organize her own rescue. A dangerous undertaking, to be sure. But fate is not always cruel. A patrol from the Sacred Order came across the young woman, their sergeant being a man of honor and piety who did not shy away from his duty to protect the innocent.

With their help, Tallia managed to find Fenax and free him from the raiders after a fierce battle in which she too was baptized by fire. After a loving embrace and words of comfort, Tallia couldn't help wondering what was so important that her beloved would risk his life to free him.

She opened the letter to find that there was not a single drop of ink left. But that was not necessary; the blank parchment spoke louder than any words about her father's betrayal.

Wounded and furious, the two young lovers refused to be defeated. Refusing to return to the man who would cruelly separate them, they both swore an oath to join the Order and devote their lives to Lumaya, an oath they honored with honor in the face of countless servants of darkness—together.
