Hogwarts Legacy is full of side quests, side missions that are optional, but must be completed if you want to complete the game at 100%.
Among the various side quests is the one called Encounter with the Fugitive which leads players into the heart of danger by confronting a particularly frightening creature. We will see in this tutorial all the details of this side quest of Hogwarts Legacy.

Beginning of the side quest Meeting the Fugitive
The side quest is started when you interact with Edgar Adley, a merchant in the hamlet of Aranshire, just south of Hogsmeade Station. You will learn during this conversation with Edgar that his friend Milo was the victim of an Acromantula and that his pocket watch was never found.
You can start the quest by offering your help to recover Milo's watch. Edgar will beg you not to look for the Acromantula, which shouldn't stop you from going there by fast-traveling to North Ford Bog and following the quest tracker directly south.
The Fugitive's Lair
If you're traveling on foot, you'll need to traverse a path through several groups of spiders to find the entrance to the Fugitive's lair. Before embarking on this journey, be sure to equip your diamond with Confringo or Incendio spells, as spiders are particularly vulnerable to fire magic.
It's also possible to reach the Fugitive's lair by flying on a broomstick to the quest marker, landing, getting back on the broomstick, and flying northwest. This will take you straight to the Fugitive's lair, which will require you to be ready to fight before putting your broom down. Getting to the Fugitive's cave using a broom will allow you to not have to deal with the other spiders along the way, which is handy especially if you want to speed up the quest flow.
Fight against the Fugitive
Upon landing in the Fugitive's lair, you'll be forced to face several variants of spiders, but the Fugitive is arguably the most dangerous enemy. As an infamous foe, the Fugitive can be exceptionally difficult to defeat, primarily due to her health level. If you're having trouble dealing damage to the creature, return to the Request Room to upgrade your gear.
The best way to avoid getting hit by this spider is to dodge whenever it prepares its lunge attack which cannot be blocked. You'll have plenty of time to dodge, but you'll also need to be prepared to do so again, as the Fugitive can unleash this attack up to three times in a row.
If you're having trouble dodging the Fugitive's attacks, hide behind the rock in the center of the arena to slow her down considerably. However, small spiders that join the fight can be very fast, so you need to be prepared to dodge and block, even when the fugitive is out of sight.
Heritage pocket watch location
Once the Fugitive is defeated, approach the web blocking the room to the north. A quick throw of Incendio or Confringo will clear the way, but before continuing you must destroy the three Spider Eggs inside, as leaving them alone will cause the Venom Hatchings inside to attack.
At the bottom of the cave, you'll see the Legacy Pocket Watch on the floor, in front of a treasure chest. Once he has collected it, the player must return to Edgar Adley at the Aranshire Hamlet, where he will have the choice to decide on the end of the quest.
If the player chooses to return the Legacy Pocket Watch, Edgar will thank the protagonist for doing what they couldn't and reward them with 300 Galleons. If the player asks for a reward and then suggests selling the watch, Edgar will comment on the protagonist's selfishness before giving them 500 galleons. Completing this quest will also reward the player with the Checkerboard – Brown wand handle.
