The game Hogwarts Legacy offers many pleasures to its players. However, this requires a good command of the various techniques in the game, in particular that of casting spells. Your main character will mostly learn spells through homework from professors who give assignments related to their course topics before teaching the corresponding spell. This is the case for the Glacius spell, which we will see the steps to follow for learning from Madame Kogawa.

Learning the Glacius spell in Hogwarts Legacy
This is triggered by progressing through the game's main story to complete the Map Room main quest. You will receive an Owl Post from Madame Kogawa telling you that it is time to learn Glacius, the Freezing Spell. She then gives you the task of popping 10 balloons with your broom in Hogwarts and around the Quidditch pitch.
After popping all the balloons, you can go to Madame Kogawa's office within Hogwarts Castle to report. This is where she will show you how to cast the Glacius spell, a control spell that can be extremely useful in combat as it breaks enemies' yellow shields and freezes their movements for a few seconds. This is how your mission ends.
All balloon locations above Hogsmeade Station
The balls are almost all in places that are easy for players to spot. However, some are hidden and require a bit more research.
- The first balloon in the Hogsmeade station is in the middle of the area, you can easily cross it with your broom to pop it.
- The second balloon is located further north, at the edge of the quest circle on the Hogwarts Legacy minimap.
- The third ball is also in the middle, but a bit higher than most of the other balls. You need to focus on the east to find it.
- The fourth balloon is to the south, at the end of the quest circle on the minimap. It has the same height as the third ball.
- The last balloon at Hogsmeade Station is harder to find than the others. You can find it in the air at close range, clinging to the southeast of the quest circle on the minimap. The area is filled with trees, so you better look carefully to find it.
All ball locations around the Quidditch pitch
- As in the Hogsmeade station, the first ball is in the middle of the field.
- The second balloon is the tallest of them all, located southwest of the quest circle on the minimap.
- The third ball is also in an obvious place, north of the quest circle in the Hogwarts Legacy.
The last two balloons are a little harder to find:
- The fourth ball can be found west of the minimap, outside the Pitch.
- The final ball can also be found outside the Quidditch pitch, to the southeast of the minimap. It is this time at a low height, and will therefore perhaps be more difficult to burst.
