How many Marvel movies will there actually be in 2026?

the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) now has 35 films, of Iron Man (2008) to Captain America: Brave New World (2025).

If you add up all the Marvel comic book adaptations from all studios, the total exceeds 90 movies since 1986.

Number of Marvel movies

Since the first adaptations in 1986, there have been more than 90 Marvel movies across all production companies. This total includes several studios that, at one time or another, held the rights to adapt certain comic books into feature films.

If you only count the official MCU from Marvel Studios, we're at 35 films to date. The rest comes from Fox, Sony and other companies that used Marvel characters before Disney's major shake-up.

Marvel movies produced by 20th Century Fox

20th Century Fox (renamed 20th Century Studios) has long been a major player in Marvel adaptations.

His first film a mainstream hit that leaves a lasting impression—that’s X-Menreleased in 2000. The studio produced a about fifteen films focusing on the mutants and a few nearby heroes:

• Six movies X-Men released between 2000 and 2019
• Three films from the 4 Fantastic released between 2005 and 2015
• X2 and Daredevil in 2003
• Elektra in 2005
• The Wolverine in 2013
• Two movies Deadpool in 2016 and 2018
• Logan in 2017
• The New Mutants in 2020

Please note : Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) is no longer a Fox film. Following Disney's acquisition, it is Marvel Studios who produced it, and it is therefore included in the MCU.

Marvel movies produced by Sony Pictures

Sony Pictures holds the rights to a series of Marvel characters, including Spider-Man as the main hero. With 13 films released to date, the studio has produced :

• Eight movies Spider-Man between 2002 and 2021
• Two movies Ghost Rider, in 2007 and 2011
• Two movies Venom in 2018 and 2021
• Morbius in 2022

the MCU, currently owned by disney, is the industry giant with 35 films and many new releases that have already been announced. These films all share the same narrative continuity, from avengers to Guardians of the Galaxy. Some of the standout tracks include:

• The Four Films Thor, whose Ragnarok (2017) and Love and Thunder (2022)

How many Marvel movies are there?

Confusion between the two numbers is common. The MCU includes only films from the official universe Marvel Studios and disney, those that share the same continuity (avengers, Thor, Black Panther…). Others, such as the X-Men Fox's or the Spiderman Sony's films also adapt Marvel heroes, but remain outside this shared universe.

What's the most-seen Marvel?

Avengers: Endgame (2019) is the most-watched Marvel movie of all time, with approximately 2.922 billion dollars at the global box office. It is the highest-grossing film in the history of the MCU, and second overall among all films, just behind Avatar.

This success is no accident. The film closed the Infinity Saga, which began ten years earlier with Iron Man. It brought together nearly all the heroes of the MCU: Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, them Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man.

That's the real strength of the Marvel model: each standalone film (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America) sets the stage for a Avengers even bigger.

What's the latest Marvel?

The latest movie to hit theaters is Captain America: Brave New World, in February 2025. This is the fourth solo installment of Captain America.

Just before him, Deadpool & Wolverine had been released in theaters in July 2024. In 2023, Marvel Studios had also made a lasting impression with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, one of the most beloved works in the entire universe.

On the calendar front, two major projects are shaping the end of the year 2025. Thunderbolts* is intended for may 2025, followed by The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July 2025, which finally brings the Fantastic Four in the MCU.

What's France's favourite Marvel?

In 2019, Spider-Man topped the list of the most popular Marvel movies among the French, with 39% votes from the public in a study published by Statista. Even the year *of*’Avengers: Endgame, the Spider-Man has not been dethroned.

Be careful with these figures, though: this survey dates back to 2019, long before movies like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Where Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Tastes have surely changed since then. One thing remains certain: the France is one of the countries most enthusiastic about Marvel.
