PalWorld, touted by some as technically superior to Pokémon Arceus, continues to impress with its music, graphics and creatures, but it remains unclear if that's enough to make people forget. Pokemon to players, given the difficulty TemTem encountered in gaining visibility. Nevertheless, the game could satisfy players frustrated with the work of GameFreak, which should continue with Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Purple.
How does PalWorld work? What does it offer its players? What's the news on PalWorld? We have gathered all the information about this game in this guide.
PalWorld: a bolder Pokémon
Pocketpair's PalWorld borrows the basic formula from the Pokémon series, but it brings a novelty that the Pokémon games couldn't accomplish on their own.
Truth be told, it's an ambitious game inspired by Pokémon, allowing you to explore mysterious or ignored territory by introducing firearms into the universe of pet creatures. Unlike the Pokémon series, PalWorld is an open-world multiplayer game focused on survival and crafting. Players can fight with firearms alongside their Pals, creatures similar to Pokémon.
This novelty creates a unique and chaotic dynamic between humans and their companions in PalWorld, adding a bold twist to the traditional Pokémon formula.
Use of firearms in PalWorld: how does it work?
In PalWorld, players can use a variety of weapons, such as shotguns and rocket launchers, to fight both wild and aggressive creatures called Pals. The fight with the wild Pals serves to weaken them before capturing them, similar to the mechanism of capturing Pokémon in the Pokémon series.
However, there are instances where Pals remain aggressive and players must defend themselves using their weapons. Human NPCs in the game can also be aggressive, whereby the player can be threatened by an evil team. The variety of weapons and combat situations add an extra and sometimes chaotic dimension to the PalWorld gaming experience.
The relationship between pet creatures, called Pals, and guns is unusual and surprising.
- Some Pals may be on the opposite side of the weapons;
- Other sheep Pals are quick to use light machine guns to fight alongside the player against a horde of wolf-like Pals;
- A quirky-looking Pal, similar to Nessie from Apex Legends, comes equipped with a rocket launcher built into her body;
- Some Pals can be used as ammo for Rocket Launchers (little blue Pals that purposely get shot by a Rocket Launcher to blast their target).
While that might sound shocking for a Pokemon-inspired game, PalWorld features creative weapon use in keeping with the Pals, making for an engaging and one-of-a-kind game.
What does PalWorld offer its players?
PalWorld confers many advantages and possibilities to the players, if one would quote only the following ones:
Exploration and Adventure
PalWorld provides players with a vast open world filled with secrets to discover, areas to explore, and challenges to overcome, so they can embark on quests, discover unique environments, and interact with a variety of characters and of creatures.
Creature Collection
The game allows players to capture, breed, and train a wide variety of magical creatures called "Pals". Each Pal has its own special skills and abilities, thus allocating a unique collection and management experience.
Construction and management of the farm
Players can create and manage their own farm, farming land, raising livestock, and building facilities. Resource management and strategic planning are necessary to develop a successful farm.
Survival and combat
PalWorld features elements of survival and combat, where players must defend themselves against threats, such as wild monsters or other competitors. Gathering resources, crafting weapons, and setting up defenses are key to surviving in this harsh environment.
Multiplayer and social interaction
The game features multiplayer features, allowing teammates to cooperate, trade, and socialize with other players. This adds a social and competitive dimension to the game, where participants can trade Pals, compete in battles, or build community projects together.
Palworld will open its early access in January 2024?
After a brief presentation of the adorable creatures inhabiting Palworld, called "Pals", the Japanese studio Pocketpair (known for Craftopia) immerses us again in a dynamic atmosphere that aroused enthusiasm during the first trailers. With mounts resembling quasi-Leviathor and quasi-Pidgeot versions, players will be able to explore new horizons on the back of these exceptional creatures and discover new protected species to capture.
Palworld will debut in Early Access on Steam in January 2024, sparking excitement about its ability to deliver on its promises. It remains to be seen whether Nintendo's legal team will react strongly to this title, and whether Steel-type Pokémon will take advantage of their natural armor to stand out. These burning questions will be answered quickly, hopefully!
