The Tomb of the Heroes of the Frontier is a dungeon in Elden Ring, located in Limgrave, behind a wall of fog at the abandoned cemetery.
To get there, you'll need two stone blade keys and find the hidden passage in the floor. There are no NPCs waiting for you here, but a secret area and some great rewards are hidden inside.
Where is the Tomb of the Heroes of the Frontier located in Elden Ring?
The Tomb of the Heroes of the Frontier is located at Limgrave, right at the beginning of the game, in the Abandoned Cemetery.
This is the "Grace" site that comes right after the tutorial; it's accessible from the very beginning on Elden Ring. To enter this dungeon, you'll need 2 stone blade keys to open the wall of fog and go down the corridor.
From the grace point, cross the area and find the hidden passage in the ground. This is what many people miss on their first try.
Watch out for the gargoyle patrolling further down in the room: move away quickly to avoid its attacks, then head down to the bottom of the dungeon. The video below shows you the exact path.

The boss: The Spirit of the Ulcerous Tree
The boss in this dungeon is the’Esprit d’arbre Ulcéreux. It is a serpentine creature covered with swollen red sores.
This is an optional boss: you don't need to defeat it to progress through the game, but its rewards are worth the effort.
Here are some tips to help you beat him more easily:
- He is primarily weak against Sacred, and to a lesser extent against Fire.
- The bleeding works really well on him.
- Stay mobile and keep your distance: his area attacks have a wide range.
- Use Oleg's ashes to distract him and strike him from behind.
Loot and Rewards to Collect
Once you've defeated the boss, you'll receive a golden seed and the summoning ash of the Banished Knight Oleg. In the dungeon, you'll also find stone blade keys and the talisman The World Tree's Favor, which increases your health, stamina, and carrying capacity.

Guide and Tips for Reaching the Tomb of the Heroes of the Far Reaches
Before entering the Tomb of the Heroes of the Frontier, is preparing two stone chisels. You can find or buy them at several places in Elden Ring. Take them to the site of grace at the Abandoned Cemetery, at Limgrave.
The path to the tomb is blocked by a wall of fog. You'll need both stone blade keys to get through it.
Be sure to bring a bow and some arrows, too. You can buy them for a low price from the merchant at the Church of Elleh. If you explore other secret areas in the game, take a look at the Sellia's Secret Cave or to Caria Manor, hidden area, and boss.
The Path to Reaching boss
Once you've passed the wall, go down into the dungeon. Stay to the sides to avoid the traps in the hallway. Move down carefully.
Further on, watch out for the gargoyle guarding the area. Dodge its wide attacks and strike when it stands still. To reach the boss room, follow the hallway all the way to the end. The path leads straight to the final arena.
Walkthrough for Defeating the Ulcerous Tree Spirit
The boss from this tomb is the’Ulcerous Tree Spirit. He is primarily weak against Holy, and somewhat weak against Fire. Bleeding also works very well against him.
His attacks cover a wide area but are slow. Stay mobile and position yourself on his flanks. Use the Banished Knight Oleg’s Summoning Ash to distract him while you attack.
Rewards to Claim After boss
Defeating this boss gives you a golden seed and the summoning ash of the Banished Knight Oleg. The tomb also contains the World Tree's Favor talisman, an item that's useful right from the start of the game.
