Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: all about Pictos and Luminas

The Pictograms and Luminas are at the heart of progress in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The Pictos provide statistics bonus to your characters, plus a passive effect.

Once you win 4 matches When equipped on a Picto, its passive ability becomes a Lumina that you can then freely equip on any member of your team.

What are the Pictos and Luminas in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

The two systems are inseparable, but they play different roles. The Pictos boost the your characters' attributes, while the Luminas add passive effects inherited from those same Pictos. This RPG Progressing through the adventure depends largely on mastering these two mechanics.

1. Pictos

Pictograms are passive objects that you equip on your characters to increase their base stats: the life, the defense or the speed. Each Picto offers specific effects that let you customize skills of your heroes.

You can combine them to optimize your dodges and blocks or exploit an enemy's weaknesses. Each character can equip 3 Icons at a time.

2. Luminas

The Luminas are passive effects from the Pictos. A Lumina is unlocked when a character is proficient in Picto, that is, after winning 4 matches with this equipped Picto. The Picto's passive effect is then converted into Lumina that can be used freely.

Good news: once you’ve mastered it, a Lumina can be equipped with any character, regardless of the original Picto. Each character can accumulate several at the same time, according to his Lumina points available. Equipping a Lumina costs a certain number of points; for example, 5 points for some.

By default, a character's Lumina points are equal to their level : a character at that level 15 therefore has 15 Lumina points.

How do I get and use Pictos in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

There are several ways to Collect Pictos as you go on your adventure. You'll find them all over the continent, as long as you explore every nook and cranny.

• You can find them in the hidden loot at various locations on the map
• Some are available at the Paint Spheres, as a reward from NPCs
• You also gain from beating boss throughout the game
• Finally, you can buy them from general merchants

Once they've been retrieved, you need to equip to enjoy their effects. It's easy to use:

1. Go to the Character Profile
2. Find the section «Pictos» in the lower-left corner interface
3. Click on a location to open the menu of available Pictos
4. Select the Picto to be equipped

How do I obtain and equip Luminas in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

To access the Luminas section in the game:

1. Open the Your Character's Menu
2. The "Luminas" section is at bottom right of interface
3. Click on a location, then on the Lumina you're interested in

To equip a Lumina, you need Lumina points. To win some, you'll need Lumicolors, key items that you can collect in three ways:

• in exploring the map and the continent
• by performing secondary quests
• in beating boss

Next, head to the Camp to give your Lumicolors to the Conservative. That's the only way to increase the Lumina score of your characters. In practice, be sure to search each area thoroughly before moving on: Lumicolors are often hidden off the main paths. The higher your point total, the more powerful passive effects you can combine in battle.

Which Pictos and Luminas are the best to equip in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

There is no single "best" build: the best ones Pictos and Luminas depend on the role you assign to each hero. The logic, however, remains the same throughout the game. You're trying to perform a series of tricks, to be assembled into speed and to increase the number of critical blows.

Passive effects that restore energy, such as Deadly energy Where Energizing fracture, let you play more often. Those related to reviews, such as A critical moment Where Critical burn, send your damage through the roof.
