As you explore the expansive universe of Hogwarts Legacy, you'll have the chance to encounter various magical creatures that are at the mercy of poachers and that you are tasked with saving and sheltering in a sanctuary.
Once you've unlocked the Room of Requirement and completed some of Cheek the Elf's quests as you progress through the game, you'll be able to rescue all kinds of beasts using the Capture Bag, including the Phoenix which is one of the rarest species in Hogwarts Legacy. Here's how to find and save this creature.

Steps to activate a Rise of the Phoenix quest in Hogwarts Legacy
You need to complete a few in-game quests before this one is triggered so you can save a Phoenix:
- Niamh Fitzgerald's Ordeal quest.
- All of Cheek's side quests regarding the Room of Requirement and Beast Rescue.
At the end of The Colt Who Saved His Kind quest in Hogwarts Legacy, Cheek recounts that his master died when he fell off a cliff while trying to retrieve a phoenix egg.
Then, after completing Niamh Fitzgerald's ordeal, Professor Weasley will owl you saying that Cheek would like to talk to you. The Elf tells you of his fear about the location of the Phoenix, because a group of poachers intends to misuse its rare materials. You must therefore go there and save the rare beast before it falls into the wrong hands.
Rescue a phoenix in Hogwarts Legacy
You can save this beast by completing the Phoenix side quest by entering the cave and using the catch bag to catch it. After triggering the quest by talking to Cheek, travel to the indicated location by traveling the long distance using a broomstick or by fast traveling using the Floo Flame (if available). Once there, enter the cave of Mount Phoenix which is right next to the Floo Flame.
Upon entering the cave, keep moving forward in a straight line without turning left or right while jumping on higher platforms until a small tunnel appears. As you crawl through this tunnel, you'll have to battle a few poachers before reaching a balcony where you'll encounter a Phoenix for the first time. The creature will fly away, appearing to guide you in the direction to take.
After that, follow these steps to reach the rare beast before the poachers:
- Head to the right from the balcony and climb the ladder.
- Defeat the enemy and enter the tunnel.
- Cross the giant stone bridge and enter another tunnel.
- Go to the other side by jumping on the wooden platform.
- Climb another ladder and keep going until you see a group of poachers.
- Use Revelio to find a secret passage hidden by stones.
- Remove the stones using the Accio or Depulso spells.
- Keep following the path on the minimap until the phoenix appears.
The Rare Beast will hover and perch on a large rock, giving you the perfect opportunity to catch it using the Catch Bag.
To complete the quest, return to the Room of Requirement and show the Phoenix to Cheek, who will create a new vivarium for the majestic rare beast.
Unfortunately, there is only one Phoenix in the whole game as it is a rare beast and there is no habitat for the phoenix on the map, which does not allow not to raise several.
