Hogwarts Legacy The foal who saved his kind?

Hogwarts Legacy highlights the adventure in the world of wizards and witches, a vast world also populated by many magical creatures. So much so that players can familiarize themselves with many of them during the side quests dedicated to them following the completion of the quest where they learn about rescuing beasts in the main story.

Among these side quests around the fantastic beasts in Hogwarts Legacy, we find the one called The colt who saved his kind, which surely the toughest and the longest. It is accessible after Charles Rookwood's ordeal, and triggers after you speak with Cheek in the Room of Requirement.

What makes this quest more complicated than the others is that it involves catching a Thestral, a species that can easily run away. It is certainly possible for you to adopt some techniques to catch one, it requires a wait of at least 30 minutes to complete the quest. Here's how you can complete this Hogwarts Legacy side quest.

Progress of the side quest: The colt who saved his species in Hogwarts Legacy

To succeed, you will need to save a Male Thestral and buy a Creature: Breeding Pen. The creature is obtained by heading to the quest marker in the northeast region of the world map. There you will find a male Thestral that will be identified as "Thestral ♂" if you lock onto him.

Once you find the Thestral to capture, you'll need to modify your spell set to include the Disillusionment Spell, Levioso, Arresto Momentum, and the Capture Bag. By making yourself invisible with the disillusionment spell, you can sneak up on the beast without scaring it away. Then, by throwing Levioso and Arresto Momentum in quick succession, you can freeze the Thestral by keeping it in levitation, to then pull it into the capture bag.

After catching the Male Thestral, go to Tomes and Scrolls in Hogsmeade to purchase the Breeding Pen which will give you 1,000 Galleons. You can also take the opportunity to buy a creassort for a potting table with large pots if you don't have one yet, as it will be useful for other quests. If you don't have the amount indicated, Mr. Brown will be happy to help you get rid of the equipment you don't need.

Having obtained what you need, return to the Room of Requirement and conjure the breeding pen in the vivarium of the beasts you rescued. You'll need 15 Moon Stones to craft some, which shouldn't be a problem, but you can still easily harvest some if you ever run out. Following the paddock set up, place the newly captured male Thestral there along with the female caught earlier in the game, and interact with the paddock to make them spawn. However, you will need patience to raise Thestrals: you will need thirty real minutes of play. If you do not want to wait idly, you can continue the other side quests during this time. Once the little Thestral is born, you can groom and feed it, then return to Cheek to complete the quest and receive the 180 XP reward.
