What is MEE6?

MEE6 has established itself as a true Swiss Army knife for managing and engaging a community Discord. It's a comprehensive bot that handles moderation, community management, and automation on your server.

Its main function remains the moderation : It monitors the chat, filters out unwanted messages, and automatically imposes penalties when a member violates your rules. This way, you can keep your server clean without having to stay logged in all the time.

In addition to moderation, MEE6 offers numerous features that can be enabled through its plugins. Specifically, it allows members of your server to:

• Level up (system of leveling) as soon as they post in a text-based chat room, with XP as a reward.
• Receive welcome messages personalized when they join the community.
• Enjoy custom orders that you create yourself.
• Get notified about your live streams Twitch or your new videos YouTube thanks to automatic alerts (Premium option).

Like most Discord bots, MEE6 works with a prefix, by default the « ! ». You enter your commands in the following format: !(command), for example !help to display the help. This prefix can be changed in the settings.

The bot is available in the following versions: free of charge, which is more than enough for most servers. An offer MEE6 Premium unlocks advanced features such as the bot personalizer, additional plugins, and more customization options.

How to configure and add the MEE6 bot on a Discord server?

Here are the steps to install MEE6 on your server.

• Go to mee6.xyz and click on «Add to Discord», or go directly to mee6.xyz/add.

• A window opens and lists the permissions required for the bot to function properly. Accept them by clicking on To allow.

• Go back to the MEE6 website and click the icon for your server from the list to choose where to install the bot.

• A new window will ask you to Confirm the server on which to add MEE6.

• Finally, authorize MEE6 on the server to complete the installation.

Important Note:

If your server doesn't appear in the list, it means you don't have the sufficient permissions. To fix this, open the server settings and go to the section Roles and activates the Administrator permission about your role. The server will then appear in the list.

How to use MEE6 on Discord?

Some of the features of MEE6 is available for free. The rest requires a subscription. Premium, which unlocks advanced features in exchange for a paid subscription.

Here are the free features available on your server:

• the level plugin (Leveling) so that members can earn’XP by posting in a chat room.

• A system of automatic message configurable with a specific time interval and a specific chat room.

The custom commands plugin

The plugin Custom Commands lets you create custom commands. When a user types a specific word in the chat, the bot responds automatically. This is very handy for providing quick answers to your community without any manual intervention.

To configure this plugin:

• Go to the tab Custom Commands.
• Click on Add to open the creation window.
• In the Order Name, specifies the text to type to trigger the command.
• In Deed, select the corresponding action from these options:
  • Answer : The bot responds in the chat room.
  • Send : The bot sends a message to a specific chat room.
  • Assign roles : Adds a role to the user who enters the command.
  • Delete Roles.

You can choose whether the message is sent to the chat room or to private message. For example, the command !alucare may trigger a private response such as: Here is the link to the Alucare server: https://discord.gg/CHdwmwR!

You can also add others permissions based on your server's needs.

The MEE6 plugin for levels

The plugin Leveling rewards members for their activity. Each message sent in a text chat room earns’Experience (XP) to the user. When a member moves up a level, the bot posts an announcement in the active chat room or in a designated living room in advance. You can customize this message in the Level-Up Announcement Message. The most active members may also receive role-based rewards automatic at certain stages.

The welcome messages plugin

The plugin Welcome allows you to customize the welcome messages on your server. It's ideal if your community regularly welcomes new members.

To configure it correctly:

• Enables the features that interest you, then write the message you want to send.
• Make sure to keep the tags {user} and {server}. The tag {user} displays the person's name (for example, @Anonymous#0000) and {server} displays the server name.

The MEE6 timer plugin

If you need to send some regular messages on your server, the plugin for timers helps you avoid forgetting things. The sending interval can range from from one minute to two hours.

To configure it:

• Open the tab Timers.
• Click on Add a timer.
• In the window, Choose the living room Enter the recipient's address, then write your message.

Moderation controls

The plugin for moderation is undoubtedly the most popular of MEE6. It allows you to create rules to penalize members based on their behavior and maintain a healthy server without constant monitoring.

To configure it:

• Choose first who moderates your server.
• Creates a moderation room a dedicated log where every action will be recorded.
• Enable the’Anti-Insults to automatically block certain swear words.
• You can also limit your use of emojis; the external links, the spam and the game's mass specifications.

Available with this offer Premium, the plugin Record records your voice conversations and saves them in the mp3. Perfect for keeping track of your sessions or community podcasts.

The MEE6 Twitch, YouTube, and Reddit Plugins

These plugins are available only to subscribers Premium, send automatic alerts to your server every time a new live stream starts Twitch, new video YouTube or new post Reddit. It's the easiest way to keep your community informed without any effort.

How do I correct an error on MEE6?

Sometimes MEE6 Post this message on your server:

«Oops, it looks like I can't assign one of the roles listed here. Please fix this by moving my role above the roles listed here.»

This error simply means that MEE6 does not have sufficient permissions to assign a role to a member. The bot can never assign a role that is already assigned above his own in the hierarchy.

To fix this, just two adjustments are needed:

• Pass the role MEE6 in administrator.
• Define the role of MEE6 in addition to the roles he must assign in the server settings.

Once these two issues are resolved, the bot will be able to handle roles, moderation, and automatic assignment of new members without any problems.
