To make money, Discord offers a subscription called Discord nitrowhich costs between 5 $ and 10 $ per month. With annual subscription prices of 50 $ and 100 $ per year. This money is earned by Discord and goes straight into their pockets!

How do boost servers work?
For the nitro discord at 10$, you can boost a server of your choice (changeable every week). You get a gem on the server next door your username with the date of your first boost, if you boost another server it will fall back to 0.
