Here's everything Trainers can still get for free in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl—no codes required and no need to wait for an official distribution.

These items and Pokémon remain accessible from the game menu, on any nintendo-switch up to date.

Mew—it’s free if you’ve played *Pokémon Let’s Go*

If you have a save file for *Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu!* or *Let’s Go, Eevee!* on your Nintendo Switch (even just 5 minutes of gameplay is enough), you can get Mew for free.

👉 Go to Floraville, then head for the flower field south-west of town. Talk to the old lady standing among the flowers: she'll offer you Mew.

This free gift can only be claimed once per savegame.

Jirachi, free if you have played Pokémon Sword/Shield

The same goes for saving Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield on your Switch.

Arceus, the Creator Pokémon, is free if you own *Pokémon Legends: Arceus*

The most prestigious gift still available. But you must meet certain conditions:

• Have a backup of Pokémon Legends: Arceus on the console with all the main missions completed.
• Completion of the Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl Pokémon League and national Pokédex.

👉 Once you’ve met the requirements, return to your room (at the start of the game): there you’ll find the Azure Flute. Then head to the Spear Columns at the summit of Mount Coronet, where Arceus will challenge you.

This method is permanent; there is no expiration date.

Parc Ramanas legends (post-game)

After defeating the Pokémon League and obtaining the National Pokédex, you can access Ramanas Park (at the end of Route 221, accessible via Surf). This is an area where you can catch legendary Pokémon from previous generations: Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Latios, Latias, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza…

👉 Collect mysterious shards by digging into the walls of the Great Underground, then exchange them for plaques at the park entrance.

Each plate invokes a legend.

Pokémon statues in the Great Undergrounds

In the Great Underground, you can dig through the walls to unearth Pokémon statues (Pikachu, Eevee, starter Pokémon from every region, and more) to place in your Secret Base. It’s completely free, unlimited, and some statues even unlock spawn bonuses.

Manaphy, only via Pokémon HOME

The Manaphy egg that was distributed when the game was released in November 2021 expired in February 2022, but you can still obtain this Pokémon another way: catch it in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, then transfer it via Pokémon HOME to your Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl.

Bonuses: completing the Sinnoh Pokédex in Pokémon HOME gives you a chromatic (shiny) Manaphy as a mystery gift.

How do I unlock the Mystery Gift function?

The "Mystery Gift" tab does not appear at the start of the game.

Here are two ways to unlock it, depending on your progress:

Method 1: Automatic (the simplest)

The function unlocks itself after the 3ᵉ badge, obtained against Mélina, Champion of Voilaroc.

Method 2: Early (3 steps, available sooner)

1. Beat Charbourg champion Pierrick (1st badge).
2. Defeat the two Team Galactic grunts north of Feli City (Route 204). If you don't complete this step, a Harlequin will block the entrance to the TV station.
3. Go up to the 2nd floor of Féli-Télé (at Féli-Cité), talk to the man in the room with the couches, and select the phrase in all caps: «EVERYONE HAPPY Wi-Fi CONNECTION.».

Once the function is unlocked :

• Open the game's main menu and select Mystery Gift.
• You can then select the option «Obtain with a code or password» to manually enter a distribution, OR
• The option «Get online» to receive online content directly.

To unlock the option more quickly, the method described above remains the most effective.

That's really very unlikely.

Nintendo concluded all mystery gift distributions for these remakes between February and May 2022 in order to focus on Pokémon Scarlet/Violet and Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

The function remains active in the game menu, however, in case a surprise worldwide distribution is launched.

Can we still get Shaymin and Darkrai?

Not directly in Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl: distribution of the Letter from Prof. Chen and the Member Card has been closed since 2022. The only way is to transfer them from another compatible game via Pokémon HOME.

Is the Mystery Gift function still useful?

Yes, to retrieve any unused old unique codes, or in case of an unexpected event.

How do I know if a code is still active or has expired?

The easiest thing to do is to refer to the list of codes above: all the codes that were in circulation at the time are now expired.
